Carlton Hotel, Autograph Collection

Overall a generally decent experience. Hotel is lovely (nice lobby area, bar and restaurant and rooms are nicely appointed). The bathroom was an after thought in room.. it was a tiny closet-like space squeezed in corner with sliding door that kept sliding back open when you closed it (no way to lock/secure it....so no privacy allowed). Friends with us stayed in same level room and they had a regular bathroom with tub and vanity and regular door...not sure if we got put in lower level room by accident. Location is great....can walk or take subway to most areas and even taxi rides are reasonable from this location since it is so central. Probably would look at other hotels in the same area next time in town before booking this one again though so really can't recommend hotel because of uncertainty and variability of rooms at the same level

location is perfect - within walking distance to great restaurants, bars.

I only stayed one night at th Carlton and it was very pleasant. The only thing that was bad is the bedroom. It was very small but the bathroom was very roomie. I would def. come back and stay if I have to. Very nice staff, very clean rooms and it wasnt to expensive.

This hotel was much better than other hotels, even 5 star hotels, in the same area. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, comfy and functional. The rooms that are oriented towards Madison Ave. or 28th street are brighter than the one's on the rear facade or on 29th street, and I think waking up in a bright room is a better way to start your day. Also, some bathrooms have a window, so try and get those if you can. My room was pretty small but not at all claustrophibic. The decor is neutral, doesn't tire your eyes with unnecessary frills but it's welcoming and relaxing. The corridors are well lit and large enough so you don't feel like you are in a cave or a brothel each time you walk from the elevator to your room. Brunch is wonderful on weekends, exquisite eggs benedict. Breakfast is served in the mezzanine, a European style room and atmosphere, and they have delicious pastries, french croissant and pain au chocolat. Maybe what I liked least was the bar, I didn't find it very attractive. Overall it was a good experience and I would definitely return.

We had a hard time finding a hotel for two adults and three children. This hotel delivered with a two room suite for the price of most 1 rooms with two dbl. beds. The mgr.'s Victor and Hector were more than helpful and the doorman Stephan gave us great advice and directions.

Location and lobby fabulous. Staff great, concierges were fantastic. Weird bathroom setup, if not careful with shower can flood the floor, clearly experienced by others for the looks of the water damage. Some of the towels had perminent stains. Halls a little too dark for my liking Breakfast good but very slow service. Wouldn't stay again @ fulll rates but would consider for a huge bargin. Bottom line..probably would recommend. I'm sure our bathroom was a fluke.

Beautifully renovated hotel with attentive staff - took great care of us and our toddler during two separate overnight stays.

Was only in the city for one night, Carlton was perfect for what I needed

Had a great stay at the Carlton. I lived in NYC a few years back and think the location is really good - easy to get uptown or downtown - quieter than staying close to Grand Central or Times Square. Nice hotel.
