Amenity-heavy hotel in Times Square with a hip, modern vibe
The Best Western President Hotel at Times Square looks traditional on the outside, but the interior spaces have a youthful, modern look. A renovation gave rooms and public spaces a clean look. Free Wi-Fi, a fitness center, business center and plenty of in-room amenities appeal to business and leisure travelers. Hungry?
My room with a view of a fire escape was filled with a greasy smell of Asian food. I was interested at that point and looked at the information binder to find out how to get some tempura and discovered NO MENU, but directions on how to log in to a web site, etc, etc, etc. The room never stopped smelling but the woman at the desk early this morning was friendly, helpful and made up for the walk to Sbarro for dinner.

Location alone makes this place.
One block from the E train, this hotel is easy to get to from the airport via subway and it's close to everything the theater district and times square has to offer. The rooms are small but clean and the beds are super soft and comfy. The only negative is the radiator heat system is impossible to control so the room remains hot. The window opens but remember the busy location so its noisy. All in all, for under a $100 a night this place is great.

JFK Air train to the E subway line drops you a block from the hotel and its only $7.25 each way (50min). Stock up on snacks, drinks at the 24hr Walgreens in times square. Deli next to Foxwoods theater is great for cheap, fresh eats.

A Lot Lacking
In NYC for 5 nights during the US Open, cleanliness, location, value and amenities were my criteria. I knew I was in trouble when the hotel reservation was short 1 (prepaid) night. Room barely big enough for a double bed. Iron, no ironing board. Housekeeping woke me up to ask if I wanted my room serviced - Do Not Disturb was hanging. Tiny shower always flooded bathroom door. Old grunge in bathroom corners. Asked for TV channel guide - none available. Incorrectly told to turn to 78 for guide. Bell men standing in front of door felt no responsibility to help open door when I entered or left.

It's ok if you don't have to deal with the staff
The hotel is overpriced for the size of the room and the general condition of the facilities. You can barely see the check-in counter past the bar area. The front desk staff are dreadful. My television didn't work, the toilet ran all night, and the clock/alarm were set to the wrong time, but couldn't be corrected. The location is great, but if you can afford this hotel, you could probably just as easily stay somewhere else.

Teensy Tiny, Noisy Room
Ultra small room with loud plumbing noises through out the night and running toilet. Dreary atmosphere and staff ambience despite funky cool decor. Looked worn despite facelift. Very close to the hub bub of Times Square. Not worth the value , will not stay again, will not recommend.

Could be better
The air conditioner in this hotel is horrible! There's only 2 settings Freezing cold or Super Low to the point you might as well shut it off. [...] Also a charge of $25 for a room key something again wasn't mentioned.
