What a difference
We have stayed at the Bentley many times but this time we have several complaints. 1. The room maid ( or someone ) dropped the trash down the toilet which blocked it --we had to go down to ask reception for help. Their response was we can move you to another room tomorrow -- this was 10ish at night. 2, The card keys didn't work on at least two occasions ( we didn't know until we tried them and again had to return to reception for new ones ( we were on the 14th floor). They suggested we get the keys checked at reception every time before we use the elevator. 3. The taps dripped but were not repaired until day 4- we reported the dripping taps on three consecutive days. 4. The view of the river was masked by another part of the building. (eoom 1401)

Condition of Room
Dissappointed with room. Needs a serious refresh. Large water spots on ceiling from an obvious previous leak. Panel on HVAC fell off. Re: amenities. Dingy towels. In-room safe did not work and had to call for assistance. Could not figure out how to operate the overly complicated radio. All Staff members were great and belong in a 4 star hotel, which the Bentley is not.

Rooms without view
Without the outstanding view of the bridge, we had a view of construction--which was better than the first room they gave us which was a wall. So I think the big draw was the views from the side of the hotel we were NOT on. Too bad. Otherwise, not much in the area to see or do--but a fun outing for our son which is why we went in the first place.

Beautiful room with nice ambiance.
I really liked my room. Well kept and modern/ tasteful furniture. Bed was very comfortable for not being a Westin. Corner room where two walls were windows along full lengths. made for an excellent view from the 10th foor. Restuarant/bar was on the 21st floor and I had a meal (dinner) 1 evening. Was very good. I would eat there again. Bar/restaurant staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions of other places to eat in town. If you are looking for a hotel with a lively lobby with lots of activity this is not the hotel to be in. If you want a great room at very fair price and close enough to the buzz of Rokefeller or Times Square with a short cab ride the Bentley was a good value. I would stay here again.

a bit run-down
The best thing I can say is that the bed was VERY comfortable. the room also had a HUGE window with a great view. downside's were furnture was battered, no drawers for clothing, tiny closet (we stayed for four days so it mattered). Worst thing was the hot water - it was unreliable. Not a lovely hotel but OK for the price. It's off the beaten path which makes it a little pain to get to the subway, etc. but overall, a good value for the money. also, could not get the maid to leave two sets of towels to save my life (even though two of us were registered)

Upper East Side Delight
The staff that checked me in and out were most courteous and accomodating; they gave me a room high up which I prefer. And it had a great view of the East River, the busy Queensboro Bridge, and the Roosevelt Island gondola. The room was really good sized for Manhattan; the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom beautifully done. The only odd thing is that a white electric stove was located along one wall and sort of stuck out into the room. Although it had a fridge in it and a microwave above (which I am sure some guests would take advantage of),it looked decidedly out-of-place in the otherwise rather chicly decorated room. You should know that it is on York Ave. and there are no stores or restuarants right next door, but if you take the block-long walk up to First you'll see everything you need. And I found it quite convenient to the 79th Street Lexington Ave Line. I did note that their restaurant on the top floor - again, the views are fab - was closed on weekends for dinner which I thought inconvenient for a first class hotel. But the bar there was open, and actually has quite reasonable prices for NYC! I think travelers to NYC who want to hang in the Upper East Side will truly enjoy this hotel.

The hotel's restaurant is open every day for a buffet breakfast you can buy, but if you just want coffee to bring to your room, they will give it to you free, and it's good!

We had a great time in New York. We walked around the neighborhood. We went to a Yankee game. We paid a visit to the World Trade Center, we had dinner in Chinatown and went to mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral.

Super option for Upper East Side stay
This hotel is the perfect choice if you are visiting the Upper East Side. Lots of shopping and restaurants conveniently located on First Ave. Especially handy if you need to be near Weil Cornell Medical Center. The staff is very friendly and eager to please. Bathrooms are VERY clean and updated, great soaps and the linens/bedding are first class. The only complaint I would have is that there is quite a bit of street noise. We were on the 8th floor and could hear it, but after a while, you got used to it! Also, we were upgrade to a suite for free!! Gotta love that!
