Yes and No
I love the location. Murray Hill is centrally located to my favorite parts of Manhattan. The room was large (I booked a 1BR Suite), but the decor was tired. Nothing was dirty or out of sorts, it's just that for the money I spent and the trendy vibe the hotel portrays, I wanted something more than poorly made furniture with the paint peeling off. Oh, and $13/day for wifi. That's just wrong. I don't see any need to return to this hotel.

The Pierpoint Morgan Library Museum is right around the corner. The Mark Twain and Roy Lichtenstein exhibits are outstanding. Not sure how long they'll be there, but still a nice little find.

Nothing to write home about...
The Shelburne is located in a fairly quiet neighborhood. It's just a few blocks to a nearby subway, though we walked most of the time for long distances to take in the various neighborhoods. We found a great pizzeria/restaurant off 3rd and 35th Street. Staff was not helpful with regard to recommendations. Hotel has its own restaurant if you're into beef. The hotel was clean, though our room had equipment and misc items that had not been removed by the time of our arrival. Resented the fact that I needed to call housekeeping several time over minor items, but when they're not working or present, makes for a less than great experience. Elevators were quite slow, apparently under renovation. Need to provide a bit more time if you don't plan to use the stairs as recommended. Rooms were spacious. Bed was ultra firm - a bit uncomfortable. Quiet floors, can't hear your neighbors. We were really only in the hotel to sleep. Spent most of our time from early morning to late evening out and about.

Good Hotel, OK Service
The Hotel itself is nice for New York. We stayed in Room 825 which was very large for NY Standards and quiet as it was off the main street (Lexington). The decor is nice. Our main complaints were that it took several calls down to the desk to get more toilet paper and pillows and when they did come, it took 30 min to deliver. The maids were lazy in their cleaning and the shampoo/conditioner were cheap so bring your own. Other than that, good place and great location, not far from Grand Central Station.

Close to being great
This hotel's location, rooftop bar and in-house restaurant make it a great choice at a great value. Unfortunately, its staff is not 4-star material. From the front desk to the housekeeping, everyone in this hotel needs training or replacing. If you are not a demanding traveler and only staying for a short trip though, its a great value.

Nice Rooms without a bunch of thrills
Good and Clean. Staff was very friendly which made up for the less than soft towels. Stayed in a suite with a door that closes (For my personal snoring reasons) and it appears this room was not used much -- TV's are good but the furniture is outdated -- The lobby looks great and wish that flavor was carried over into the rooms more. Overall, a decent value for what they charge and it's central location makes it worth it. Room food was quite good!

Average Hotel for Above Average Money
The Shelburne Murray Hill Hotel was adequate. In addition, the hotel seems to be undergoing a massive renovation. The room was small and somewhat chilly, despite best attempts to cajole the heater into warming up the room.

Although the hotel is reasonably well situated, it's easier to catch a cab to theatre district or shopping by walking up to Madison or Park Avenues.

A top bargain -great service, nice rooms
It was my wife's birthday and they gave us a complimentary upgrade! The staff was very helpful. The rooms have been nicely modernized, the location is excellent. You get more for your money here than anywhere I've stayed in Manhattan. We will definitely be back.

Shelburne Murray Hill
This is the second time I have stayed at the Shelburne. The renovations are nice, but the decor doesn't fit with the age and charm of the building. It is clean and comfortable. The staff helpful and friendly. The rooms are large for a NYC hotel. The neighborhood is safe, and there are nice restaurants in easy walking distance. The hotel restaurant and bar are adequate.
