We will be back.....
Pros: Great location. Near sights like Grand Central, Empire State Building, Times Square, Bryant Park, and Rockefeller Center. Close to subway. Murray Hill is a great little area with local restaurants and shops. We had good luck with coffee bars, breakfast places and late night restaurants. Murray Hill Diner is a few blocks away for breakfast. Lambardo's Pizza is close for lunch. Right down the road are a number of Asian and Indian restaurants. Beds were very comfortable - all of us slept well. We did not take advantage of the hotel bar or restaurant. Although closed, there is a terrace with a view of the Empire State Building - evening view is great. Complimentary coffee bar in the morning was a nice touch. Reasonably priced bar and snack items in the room when in a pinch. Free airline ticket kiosk. Cons: Not many, but the #1 was the lack of elevators. There are 2 plus freight/staff. One was under repair and they are small. However, we walked down the stairs and only road on the way up. The TV and stations were limited and had some quality issues. Some say the bathrooms were too small, but they were upgraded and nice. Yes, not a lot of counter space, but that was not important to us. There is no sundry shop in the hotel, but we found the local Walgreens nearby. Couple of missed nice touches were the room was geared for 2, and we had 3 (towels, cups, mugs, etc.) and there wasn't a luggage stand (minor details). There was no separate table or chair, only a desk with a desk chair. But, we made it all work just fine. We had a great stay. No problems. Enjoyed the hotel and the location. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Unbeatable location for the price
I loved the fact that you were close to the shopping districts yet away from busy traffic and mobs of people. Location was great. There was a nice restaurant attached to the hotel. the service was great and friendly.

tourist to New York
The Shelburn hotel is a beautiful place to stay. The bell hops and doormen were very friendly and helpful. The room was extremely spacious and the decor was clean and modern. We had a one bedroom suite with a sofa bed in the living room and a king bed in the bedroom. The bedroom had a large closet, a big dresser and the bathroom was located in the bedroom as well. There are lots of great delis and cafes within a few blocks of the hotel and it's within walking distance to some great shopping like Saks 5th Ave and Lord and Taylors. We did walk to the Time Square area and Broadway, but it is quite a long walk. Before moving to this hotel, I stayed a few nights at the Hampton Inn Time Square and I actually preferred that hotel because it was only a couple of blocks from all the shops and entertainment on Broadway, they offered a great breakfast, and 24/7 coffee and tea bar plus fresh cookies welcome you at the front desk in the afternoons. The Shelburn is a more luxurious hotel and is roomy for a group, but it didn't offer a lot of extra services and one of the elevators was broken so it took forever to get up or down. I would recommend it but you will need to use a lot more taxis to get around.

Friendly, Helpful, Central
This hotel was just a short walk to Grand Central Station, where you can catch a subway easily to everywhere. Front desk staff and concierge were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were Clean and comfortable, with a fridge, sink, and microwave. Bring your own conditioner! Left my hair dry and staticky.

Nothing to write home about...
The Shelburne is located in a fairly quiet neighborhood. It's just a few blocks to a nearby subway, though we walked most of the time for long distances to take in the various neighborhoods. We found a great pizzeria/restaurant off 3rd and 35th Street. Staff was not helpful with regard to recommendations. Hotel has its own restaurant if you're into beef. The hotel was clean, though our room had equipment and misc items that had not been removed by the time of our arrival. Resented the fact that I needed to call housekeeping several time over minor items, but when they're not working or present, makes for a less than great experience. Elevators were quite slow, apparently under renovation. Need to provide a bit more time if you don't plan to use the stairs as recommended. Rooms were spacious. Bed was ultra firm - a bit uncomfortable. Quiet floors, can't hear your neighbors. We were really only in the hotel to sleep. Spent most of our time from early morning to late evening out and about.

Great Location
The hotel was in a great location only a short walk from Grand Central terminal. You can get a subway right from the airport and save money on a shuttle. The rooms are clean and have everything you would need. I would not go so far as to call it a 4 star hotel but it is a very solid 3 1/2 with nice furnishings and CLEAN rooms.

NYC piece of Cake
A first timer in NY and the Shelbourne offered us comfort with style in a great location. A quick 10 min walk to Grand Central Station and the City was ours, not to mention one of my favorite spots to wander about. Located in Midtown 20-30 min walks took us to Bryant Park, NYC Public Lirary, the Crystler and Empire State buildings and Times Square, just to name a few.

Great location to tour the city! Close walk to Grand Central Station and to many Midtown attractions. The surrounding neighborhood offers lots & lots of cafes, shops, stores, restuarants, deli's nearby to grab a leasurely or quick bite. The restuarant next to the hotel was great, try a Brooklyn Manhattan to get you in the NYC mood.

Would stay there again.
The hotel is in a relatively quiet neighborhood and is within walking distance of Times Square, shopping, subway, and the theater district. Also there is a deli/restaurant right up the street with an extensive gluten-free menu for those who care about such things. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and attractive. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

Yes and No
I love the location. Murray Hill is centrally located to my favorite parts of Manhattan. The room was large (I booked a 1BR Suite), but the decor was tired. Nothing was dirty or out of sorts, it's just that for the money I spent and the trendy vibe the hotel portrays, I wanted something more than poorly made furniture with the paint peeling off. Oh, and $13/day for wifi. That's just wrong. I don't see any need to return to this hotel.

great place
Great place for the price..close to transportation...lack of view was a but of a bummer but we didn't send much time in the room anyway. Great staff, room size was fair. If your on a tight budget, save money in the room and spend it on the .best the NYC has to offer.
