Great value
We needed a hotel near Port Authority and this was a short cab ride away. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room clean and very nice, and we even got to check in at 11am when we arrived. It was also close to the Metro so we could easily meet friends in Brooklyn. Perfect!

Great Value!
This is an under rate chain. My room was very large and the price of the room was less than $200 per night. The bed was comfortable and the room was modern. And I was there for work, could easily walk to all my meetings with the ideal mid-town location. Great find.

Not bad for NY average for any other 4 STAR hotel
You expect more when you pay 200$ a night. But what you get is average however not bad considering average cost of a pint of beer is 7$. Room was not bad, it was very clean, comfortable. We got a room that look at an alley real ugly view. No pool but the workout room is very nice. Roof top bar is pretty good. Location is excellent.

Friendly Staff and a good price
We stayed at the Affinia-Shelburne recently for my bachelor party in NYC. I was hoping for the one of the two-bedroom suites with a terrace, but they were booked solid that weekend. We ended up with a little less space than I would have hoped for in a suite, but the service at the hotel was very nice. Nikki, I believe, at the front desk, was very nice and helpful and gave us all the information we needed. She offered to have the sofa bed made up and ready for our return. We actually spent most of the night in the city, so the room served as a little place to share some drinks and food at the end of a wild night on the town. The room was very clean, and the hotel provided everything I asked for. The elevators were small and a bit slow at times, especially the next morning during check-out. The price was very good, however, if I planned another event or bachelor shindig, I would probably shop around and spring for a larger suite, or book further in advance so I could have the two-bedroom suite, which would accommodate a large group much better. Overall, a nice stay with a great staff and great service, and much appreciated Philosophy bath products!

Sweet hotel
Wife and I spent two days, fitness center was lacking without a sauna, but everything else about the hotel was great. The staff was super friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable and they had free bikes for up to 4 hrs!!! It was in a great neighborhood, easy to get to both the east and west sides. I would definately reccomend this hotel.

Comfortable Convenient Boutique Hotel in East Midtown NYC
The lobby was small but cheerful with the comings-and-goings of youngish European and Asian tourists. The lobby staff were courteous. The elevators were a bit slow. My room was quiet; as a woman traveling alone I felt safe. The room was comfortable, with nice linens; the toiletries and bathroom were more upscale than is typical of the chain accommodations where I usually stay when traveling around in suburbs. My room had a rear window over a rooftop and behind a wall --- absolutely no view, though better than an air shaft. With Grand Central Station just five blocks away, this location is convenient to transportation and NYC sights. I would definitely stay there again and that is certainly a recommendation because I had to spend the weekend in New York on a sad errand. No doubt if I had been at the Affinia on a pleasure trip my memories would be even warmer.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
If you enjoy literary history or smaller museums, stroll over to the Morgan Library & Museum, 225 Madison Avenue at 36th Street. Also, don't forget that Grand Central Station is not just one of New York's great buildings and its transportation hub but an excellent place to shop.
