Our first time at Affinia Shelburne. Will consider again.
This hotel has top-notch location, staff and room service. Every employee is exceedingly nice and helpful. We had a view of the Empire State building out of the window! That (or even a regular street view) is quite remarkable for NYC. The check-out was at 12 - that's whole extra hour compared to every other place we stayed at. On the other hand, room amenities were a bit odd. The shower had no door, the bathroom was missing a fan, the room was tight on account of long counter along the wall and room decor was a tad strange and mismatched.

Great Hotel - Mom with Two Teenagers
We had a great experience at this hotel. It is an average hotel and room and we didn't use room service. The walk to the subway is a few blocks away but it is close to well-populated streets so the walk to and from the hotel was not intimidating. The staff was very friendly! We ate dinner once at the restaurant downstairs and it was expensive, but it was really good and perfect because we were tired and didn't want to go out (anywhere else would have been just as expensive). Taxis were available right out the front door and food is available on all the surrounding streets. The room price wasn't the cheapest or the most expensive - it was mid-range, but the staff and location made it well worth it. I would definitely recommend to friends and family!

no real complaints, friendly staff, would recommend
Staff were extremely polite and welcoming and helped wherever they could Michael and Michaela were both very nice and they unfortunately were the only names I caught as everyone was very good The rooms were very spacious and were cleaned thoroughly. I'm not sure if it was on the site prior to booking that the roof bar is closed until may as I was hoping to use that area to propose to my girlfriend, I had emailed prior to this but got no reply. (She said yes anyway) Unfortunately I didn't get to sample the rare bar and grill but I heard only good things about it. The hotel is undergoing building work outside but once inside you wouldn't know (accept the ground floor). I never heard any noise. The room was on the 9th floor right next to the lifts and could be used as an interconnected room but there was no disturbances, the room easily locks if its not what you want so no one just walks in, the room could have done with a mirror beside the TV for people to get ready but I guess that's being picky. Bed was very comfortable and wardrobe spacious. The hotel is located about a two-five walk from the Chrysler building and grand central station. Its about 15 minutes to times square walking, a cab will cost under 10 dollars. Hotel is very convenient for fifth avenue. I would highly recommend

King size suite very very nice
I had a wonderful time. I stayed in a king size suite. The bed was wonderful. The only complaints I would have about the room is that the bathroom is a bit awkward space wise as the toilet is right behind the door and if you are 5'11 or taller or over 200 lbs you would not fit and there was no tub BUT the shower was nice and big. The other complain is about the internet connection which for the amount of money that one is paying for it (about $17) the quality/strength is not good - it kept disconnecting and was very slow so if you need to do important business then not recommended. For the standard of the hotel I would recommend they check with the provider to upgrade the internet service as it is not up to par.

Comfortable and in a good location
Rooms are comfortable, overall, however, my mattress had the air of being a bit too old and worn out for a place of that caliber. Nights were therefore not too comfortable.

Great value
We needed a hotel near Port Authority and this was a short cab ride away. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room clean and very nice, and we even got to check in at 11am when we arrived. It was also close to the Metro so we could easily meet friends in Brooklyn. Perfect!
