Location Location Location

The wife and I took our first trip to New York City celebrating our 20 year anniversary and we tried to make it memorable from the planning stages. We looked at dozen of hotels trying to pick one out that was a nice mix of modern convenience without being a cookie cutter chain. The Afiinia Dumont was a perfect fit for us. The full kitchen was important to us because I like to cook, especially breakfast. On check in we had one of the only problems of the trip. We went to our room and there was no kitchen and only a shower and no bath and the room was hot.We immediately called the front desk and they explained there had been a mistake and they had issued us a handicapped room on accident. The bellman retrieved our bags and escorted us to our suite that was home for a week. The Jr.suite was especially roomy. The kitchen and living room, office area were spacious and well appointed.Make sure you request a suite with free high speeed internet access,we didin't and paid $44 for the service. The bedroom and bath were a little tight together but not uncomfortable. A seperate AC unit was a nice feature. The bed was comfy enough to keep us sleeping later than usual. There is also a pillow menu which was a first. We tried them all and couldnt decide on the best. The location of the Affinia Dumont was one of the best features however. A $10 cab ride to Times Square,Broadway and Restaurant row.A two block walk to a subway station and the staff was extremely helpful with directions to anywhere. I even called them from the subway to ask them how to get home one afternoon. The Dumont is part of the Murray Hill neighborhood. There is a deli on the same block(great sandwiches!),a late night pizza joint around the corner(try the veggie slice) and an all night pharmacy a couple of blocks away.

Very good experience

Very good experience, rooms are very spacious and the windows open (a little!). I had a great view of the Chrysler building and a very good neighborhood. Staff was very friendly on check in. Two small dissatisfactions, the ethernet cable was missing and they promised to deliver another which they never did (I bought my own instead). Porters were less accomodating than the front desk.

Great Living Amenities

My daughter and I were in New York for business and she has some food allergies that are not always easy to accommodate when eating out. The kitchen in our room was not only well appointed but also a big convenience for us. The grocery store was right around the corner and had everything we would need to make food suitable for my daughter. The rooms were lovely, comfortable, and quiet. The staff was excellent. I will definitely be staying at the Affinia Dumont again.

Great place for a weekend

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend in NYC, especially our stay at the Affinia Dumont Hotel. This was our first visit and we really lucked out in finding this place. It was within walking distance to the Empire State Building, Macy's. Times Square and the theater district. It was also only two short blocks from the #6 subway which connects to everything. We used the subway to go to Yankee Stadium to see the Yanks play the Mets. It was very easy to do... and only cost $2 per trip. What a deal! There was also a great convenience store on the corner and an even better pizza place across the street. We ate street meat, pizza and all sorts of good stuff that was available from several nearby street fairs that were going on. All I can say is that it was GREAT and we're looking forward to doing it again soon.

Very big rooms for NY

The Affina Dumont was great from the moment we stepped foot out of the cab and was pleasantly greated by the hotel staff welcoming us to the city. Check -in was fast and off to our large room. I was even more amazed to find a kitchenette in there also. The location was centrally located to most everything by walking, subway, or quick cab ride. A market is right next to the hotel, Starbuck is about a block west on the corner of 5th, and the Barking Dog resturant next door is very good for food. I loved the drinks and Mushroom Brie appetizer. Overall, I would stay here again and would invite others to check it out too. You wont be disappointed. It was Great. The kitchenettes are the best even if you dont need them it makes the room feel like a home away from home.

Outstanding Hotel

The Affinia Dumont was perfect for a weekend getaway. The room was amazing. It had a very confortable king bed, a large desk and a chair. The bathroom was very nice as well. It was large and well stocked with extras including a mirror in the shower. The room also had a small kitchen with stove, refrigerator and microwave. There was even silverwear and dishes in the cabinets in the kitchen. The location was excellent. It was a short walk to Times Square and there were many restaurants within a few blocks. My only complaint was the fact that in-room Internet access was not wireless and cost $10 per day.

Great views

It was our first trip to New York and the hotel was wonderful. Close to the subway. The staff was friendly and really helpful with suggestions on where to shop and eat. We will definitely stay here again when we come back. We didn't use the kitchen much but it was nice to have it available. The only complaint was I could sometimes hear music from an adjoining room.
