Fair accomondations

After being in the room no longner than a minute, a large roach took a stroll across the room. We coul not wait to leave for home the next day. While there we went to the Rose room at the Lincoln Center to hear an outstanding jazz program.

Great hotel and location, poor facilities

Great hotel and staff. Super location. Stylish and popular lobby, bar, coffee shop. Poor facilities ... (a) toilet bowl would not flush (dipper arm broken, had to fix it myself) (b) dusty, insufficient power outlets (c) *very* noisy in-room heater would inexplicably start vibrating and making loud sounds Need better attention to detail ... in addition to being cool!

This place couldn't be better

Stayed for a second time, the wifi was down during my first stay and upon checking in I asked if it was working they said it was. As always they are amazing at the desk! They told me I had been given a "slight upgrade" He was understating that. I was upgraded from a king room to the loft suite. They're was a handwritten note welcoming me back with a tshirt and chocolate on the table in the kitchen. The suite was gorgeous, the staff is amazing, room service is prompt. They really have a unique and rare makeup of people for staff. Love love love ace

Nightlife tip: In Hotel

This is a young atmosphere the lobby is. Lounge/nightclub at night. Don't be scared by it. It's immensely safe for guests as you need key access for the elevators and you don't hear a peep once your out of the lobby!

Ace is amazing

The reason im not giving 5 stars a ross the board is only Bc the wifi and tv on demand were down, as was the cable for all intensive purposes. I personally had none of these things disclosed to me upon arrival and only read of it in a very small sign in the corner pf the elevator, but I did hear guests being told upon who where checking in as I was leaving, albeit after they had handed over a credit card for incidentals. But I can tell you that the ace is beautiful the rooms are brand new, mine was a medium king which was large for nyc, the shower is ENORMOUS literally it goes back about 8.Feet and the Rudy's brand shampoo and conditioner (16$ for sale in the lobby which isn't that bad) is amazing and smells like heaven, and I'm so picky about my hair products. The staff (front desk, 24 hour room service and bell man) are young enthusiastic and super friendly however Bc of this it's that much more obvious when you run into someone who maybe doesn't smile. Everyone is local and knows the area well, they really have exceptional service. Above and beyond. The hotel is a very hip place the lobby is part bar/lounge with events/entertainment 7 nights a week and can be extremely loud if your standing in the lovby but you would never know once you enter the elevator. The rooms are utterly cut off from the noise of the lobby however they do have thin walls and if your in the hallway you can hear everything from inside any room you pass by. But it's New York Seriously this place is amazing the minibar is fabulously stocked room service is a bit limited but very fairly priced. It was a great experience and well worth the money ill be staying here again!

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

That being said as a local, I can tell you that the area is a little iffy at night. While w29th betwn 5th and broadway (the block the hotel is on) is well lit and perfectly safe, two blocks down is Korea town, which is basically nycs red light district. You'll never see anyone on a street corner but I would caution you to go over there past midnight if your a young female, by yourself. New York is a safe city one of the safest in the world it's just a bit skeezy over there. And walking off the block of the hotel it is very dark and a little too quiet. But there are always cabs in front of the ace at night. And pretty much round the clock

hipster oasis

a really well styled hotel and rooms - my "mini" room was perfect for a solo traveler, and would still be more than adequate for a couple. had a great view of the empire state buildling. the vibe is insanely hipster, but service was impeccable - everyone was extremely helpful and very nice. a bit of a bummer was the wait at all the eateries in the hotel - stumptown coffee, the breslin for brunch, and john dory for the osyters - but the food was great. oh, and the lobby is packed all throughout the day - folks on their lap tops throughout the day, and then a lounge/bar scene at night. would absolutely stay again!

All-day getaway

Cool place with cool amenities. Room was comfortable but small - I'm small, so it didn't matter to me, but I could see it being an issue for others. The lobby is pretty much the center of everything, and it's a place you can stay all day and night. Feels like a college library/dining hall/brasserie with tables, comfy chairs, couches, and a darker, academic ambience. I sat down during the day at a table, did work and ate brunch. Wifi is free, and servers are attentive, but you have to flag them down. Early afternoon, I started kicking back more, ordered some beers (generally $7-8) and people-watched. At night, the bar is a pretty happening spot. I brought my friends over on Friday and saturday, and they had dj's spinning 80s breakbeats and other non top 40 music. Also, if you do feel like going out, the location is great. Near ktown, MSG, trains, and pretty much all of midtown manhattan. Keep in mind that it's not very bright inside, and hallways have a semi-musty smell, so look elsewhere if that's an issue for you. As for me, I would definitely stay here again.
