happy hour to boot!

The 70 Park Avenue was an extremely friendly and convenient hotel for my 4-night trip with my mother in NYC. The staff was helpful and always had a fresh dispenser of citrus water waiting for us in the lobby. We had a very quick response to a broken shower lever in our bathroom. The happy hour was a bonus we didn't expect and we met other travelers while we sipped free wine each night. The linens, toiletries, free New York Times and the tv were great. The bathroom was very small and the view from our room wasn't great, but who cares...the neighborhood was very safe and pedestrian-friendly. We walked everywhere (including back to the hotel after Broadway shows) and if it was too far to walk, Grand Central Station is just outside the front door and two blocks away. I would absolutely stay in this hotel again.

Nice Room but....

Small room, expected for a smaller hotel in NY, however a couple of issues that somewhat soured the experience. -There was some type of leak in the bathroom next to the tub, initally when we checked in we did not notice, however later in the evening there was standing water next to the tub (tub/shower had not been used), reported it and they stated would be taken care of next morning. Next evening same thing, I reqeusted to speak with a manager, was told I would receive a call back and never did, next morning spoke with front desk, they did know if or when someone even looked at it, again no manager available?? Was told would notify a manager but again NO follow up. Checked out on the 3rd day, never any follow up. -Also, the concierge desk was particularly unhelpful, seemed like we were 'bothering' them when asking for information, felt like we were interrupting them when requesting a map or information. Overall the rooms were clean and nice except the leaky bathroom that was never fixed. I would not stay there again and would NOT recommend anyone I know to stay there.

Extremely Helpful

70 Park Ave Hotel is a jewel in NYC. The staff is exceptional. They were willing to take the time make sure our stay was comfortable, and they were able to help with directions to most anywhere in the city. Check in and check out was quick and easy. The room was charming. The bed very comfortable. It is close to Grand Central Station. We will definately stay again.

A lovely place

Everything you want from a NYC hotel -- class and charm. I'm not used to staying in nice hotels (and could never afford to stay at 70 Park Avenue on my own dime), so I was a bit shocked at the food prices. But, hey, it's NYC. You can eat anywhere.

Great stay!

I was very pleased with 70 Park Avenue from check in to check out, everyone was extremely polite and helpful. When I mentioned that my room was smaller than I thought it would be they upgraded us at no extra charge. The rooms are nicely done, with ipod docking station, flat screen TV, Nintendo games & DVD player. They have a good environmental policy so the tissue & toilet paper are made from recycled paper, and lighting is energy efficent as well. The bathroom was small but very servicable and clean with great ammenities. It is a small boutique hotel but has charm and very warm and upbeat feel about it. My phone was stolen while in NYC and again the staff were very considerate and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel to others. The location on Park just below Grand Central Station is perfect. My son and I had a wonderful time except for the phone incident.
