Not what I wanted..
I ask for the room that is high floor but they give me 5 th floor which wasn't what they r showing in the pics. What do you have to do to get those room? By the way, they have 16th floors.

A clean and good value hotel but cordial staff
This is our second time at this hotell in less than a year. The hotel is clean, and up to a regular modern Holiday In standard. Do not be concerned with the neighborhood, which seems very safe at all times of day. And there are several new hotels are in this area. The N and Q lines to Manhattan offer a 20 min ride round the clock service. All in all, good value for money. Staff vary in friendliness, but are mostly cordial, it's NYC, but they could make a little more effort. Also the temperature in our room was pre-set (and locked) to 23oC (73oF) which was to warm for us, opening the window provided a solution, but far from ideal. Except for this; pretty happy, and a little less broke after our holiday :)

The diner by the 39-st station may look a bit shabby (as Queens does in general), but offers a great breakfast! (we have both studied microbiology, and were not put of)

We arrived from JFK Airport very late at night. The desk clerk was so very nice, gave us some quick information, checked our reservation and sent us on our way to our room. Our room was perfect for our week of visiting with our daughter who showed us around Astoria and Manhattan, etc. A very comfortable double bed, desk, great wireless internet, clean well-appointed bathroom with great water pressure in the shower. End tables of bed had a nice "desk" like feature that would slide out. Our room was on the sixth floor and very, very quiet. I cannot say enough about the staff in general. Front desk, restaurant (great food, don't miss it), pool and exercise room staff, housekeeping staff, everyone! I can't wait to go to the Holiday Inn Manhattan View when I visit my daughter again. The price for all the amenities and superb staff was excellent. Far better than staying in Manhattan. All this, and about two short blocks from the subway station! Excellent. Not to be missed. Also: the hotel is very family-friendly for families with kids. Great hotel for any kind of travel.

Do take the subways everywhere! Very efficient and you will get where you want to go. New York is a very friendly place.

Weekend Getaway
Very satisfied with this hotel. Hotel is 2 blocks from the subway, 15 minutes to Times Square. Easy access to Manhattan, yet very quiet neighborhood. I liked the fact that I didn't have to deal with the tourist crowd every night.

First business visit

Less dan a five minute walk frm the subway.. i am frm a small town n ga so waking up to a great view of Manhattan is mind-blowing

The hotel is very clean and spacious room for a NYC hotel. One of the best features of this hotel is the location to the nearest subway station. Only 2 blocks to the subway and it only took 15 minutes to get into the heart of Manhattan. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Manhattan View - that was a joke. They stuck us on the second floor directly above the kitchen & the lobby (Second Floor Room 201). Our room constantly smelled like food! The noice in the lobby affected our ability to fall asleep & stay asleep. They tore up the outside patio (directly below us) early morning. The noice of the tile removal sounded like they used jack hammers! We will never stay there again & will definitely tell our friends not to either.

If traveling to New York, be sure to pack good walking shoes. Also, the double deck tour buses that let you off & on throughout the city, were worth it for us. We bought the tour that included all the tours of the city which cost us a total of about $50 per person but we were able to use it for two full days. That was helpful because of the on/off feature, night view of the city, and the same ticket offered a discount to a musical we wanted to see which saved us about $30 per ticket.
