Howard Johnson Inn Yankee Stadium

Stayed at this hotel because my son moved to Bronx and there aren't many options without going into city. Although the room size was adequate, the bed fairly comfortable and the room seemed clean, in my opinion the room was overpriced for value received. It reminded me of one of those bargain priced motels on the interstate that you can rent for $59. The staff was friendly, and once you are in room, it was fine. However, the hallways are a little tired looking, there is No lobby and there was No elevator. You check in at a glass window in a hall next to the parking garage. The continental breakfast was very basic but adequate. However the "breakfast room" appeared to be converted from the storage space underneath the stairwell. Bottom line, if you don't mind paying almost $200.00 and are only looking for a basic place to sleep and a bagel in the morning you will be fine. But otherwise I would suggest checking in yonkers or fort lee. Location is convenient, but I will look elsewhere before staying here again.

Was just reading some of the reviews and had to put my 2 cents in. Have stayed here many times and have no complaints - staff was accomodating, room was fine, breakfast good and had the best coin operated coffee machine I have ever seen. Location probably not that handy but I never felt unsafe, there"s a garage next door in case of car trouble and a police station on the other side. Also a reasonably priced taxi service they work with. If you're looking for luxury or want a nice view you won't be happy but otherwise it's a great deal if the Yankees aren't in town and a good deal if they are.

Not good. Two nights the people in the next unit played their TV from 1:00am until 6:00 am. I called the desk twice the first night and although they said they spoke to the people nothing happened. Never at Howard Johnson's again.

I didnt spend much time in the room, except to sleep. But the room was always clean and the staff were very nice. Oh and the tv was nice. The location isnt the best but the hotel itself was great. My only complaint was that the shower pressure would go in and out. Slightly obnoxious.

I stayed two nights and they charged my credit card for three. When confronted about the charges they made up some lame excuse about not realizing that I was checking out even though I handed them the key and said I was checking out. They refused a refund!

Unbeatable location for the price"

It was peacfull, but the staff was rude. It was in a cramped area, but in walking distance to Yankees Stadium that was a plus. The juice was out both days. The TV volume was barely audible at its highest level if you wanted air conditioning as well.

reasonably close to Yankee Stadium.Information on the hotel site regarding the proximity to Yankee Stadium and restaurants is misleading. The area is dangerous.The room was flithy - if you walked barefoot,your feet would be covered in dirt.There was mold in the coffee maker and covering the bottom of the shower curtain.The safe did not work (finally, I was given a key which worked). Overall, it was a miserable experience. I suggest that you stay in Manhatten and take the subway to the game.

The hotel is very expensive considering what you get - it's very difficult to explain to cab drivers how to find the hotel; rooms are decent but exterior of hotel creates very low expectations. Next time we are in NY we'll probably spend another $50 for a hotel closer to public transportation and in a better location.

People at the hotel were always eager to help. The area around the hotel had graffiti. Rooms were clean but no frills. There was a coffee pot in the room but no coffee. There was no bath mat until the third night we were there. No kleenex. No close by restaurant but you could order food delivered.
