a dump in a good location

The blankets were worn thin from age. The looked liked they hadn't been washed in a while and I was afraid to touch them. Half the lights in the room didn't work. It was all rather dank looking. The breakfast had a variety of cheap empty carbs and the coffee was tinted brown water. The internet worked fine though and the bathroom was clean enough. The campus and Planetarium were conveniently located across the street and there is a Starbucks on campus if you want a decent cup of coffee.

convenient!

I chose to stay here for the convenience and best price of hotels for the weekend of attending a football game. It was so convenient to just walk across the street and not worry about parking at the stadium. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and comfortable. The only complaint was the puddle in the bathroom which was from a leak coming from the base of the toilet. I called the front desk to alert them. I offered to just throw a towel down to soak up the moisture and the clerk agreed. I was fine with it, since it was just an over nighter stay. Other than that. It was quiet ad conveniently located next door to a Subway and street exits in front of back of hotel to main roads leading to freeway.

No Wifi, Ants, Very Hard Mattress

Location is across the street from the University of Nevada, Reno, between a gas station and a Subway sandwich shop. It's a straight shot to downtown with easy off/on freeway access without being directly on the interstate. Easy parking. The building is "aged" but, we aren't picky. We reserved a room with 2 queen beds for 2 adults, 2 kids. Our son's service dog was with us. We were assigned a "pet room" - corner at the end of the building. We requested 2 room keys - only 1 worked. The door stuck in the jamb, so had to use a little body weight to get it open. There were no odors when entered the room and the floor, bedding, bathroom, furnishings, etc were all clean. Even though our reservation was for 4 people, there was only towel service for 3. We had to go back to the front desk get additional towels both days. (I wouldn't have minded reusing our towels, but, they were removed from our room. Guess they don't follow the "hotel energy conservation" program?) Our rate included the advertised "free Wifi", which didn't work the entire stay. The staff claimed to be on top of it, reset router, etc, but it never worked. (And no, the issue wasn't our devices since they worked at every other location that we went to that weekend.) We like a firm mattress, but this was like sleeping on a park bench. The staff was kind enough to allow us to go back to the front desk for 2 additional pillows. The remote control for the TV stopped working. I let the gentleman at the front desk know the next morning, and that evening it was working again. (Unlike the wifi.) In the morning, there were ants investigating our luggage even though we hadn't eaten in the room, and our food items were in the fridge. I let the gentleman at the front desk know about the ants. He said he'd spray. Guess what?! The ants were back the next morning. At other Super8 locations we've stayed at, the continental breakfast included "make-your-own waffles" (which, my kids love!), oatmeal packets, hardboiled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt... Here, the continental breakfast was your choice of either corn flakes or rice crisp cereal, freezer-toaster waffles, white bread for toast, and mini muffins. The coffee is very weak. Upon check-out, the staff apologized for the lack of wifi connectivity.

Yes, there are other things to do in Reno other than gambling: Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center, Wilbur D. May Museum, Animal Ark Wildlife Sanctuary, the Riverwalk... to mention a few.

Adequate

If you are looking for a place to sleep cheap, this would be the place. If you are going to spend any time in the room, I would probably go somewhere else. The bed was comfortable and the management courteous. It was definitely not luxurious, but it was adequate .

A Stess-Free Temporary Home

Every time I check into a hotel anywhere, there's always some type of issue. This was my first time staying here but the location was perfect based on where I needed to be. Staff was the great and I hardly left the room for anything at all. :)

Gross! Slept in my long-sleeves w/ socks.

Stayed for one night. The staff was friendly for the limited interaction I had. The bed sheets had other people's hair on them. My friend and I slept in our long-sleeve clothes. I wore my hoodie and socks. My friend did not wear socks and woke up with bite marks on his ankles. I know "you get what you pay for" and all that but you'd think $45 would get you something better than that. The location was good only because we were attending a UNR football game. Not recommended for skiers or those that are in Reno to gamble. It is the closest bargain hotel to UNR.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

A 3 minute walk north on Virginia, Little Waldorf Restaurant was very good. Had a BBQ chicken pizza and a few beers. Pizza was very good and service was quite attentive despite the fact that we were wearing the "other team's" colors.
