Come to see the Rig, stay for the dining, shows and spa

The first thing visitors need to see is the Rig. The centerpiece of the Silver Legacy is a 120-foot automated mining rig inside a dramatic laser light filled dome that pays tribute to Reno's past. But that's certainly not all this mega-resort has to offer. The large casino includes the Zone sports book, poker room, keno and all popular table games. Amenities include a wide variety of dining and drinking destinations, entertainment and a full-service poolside spa and fitness center.

Highlights
  • Full-service spa and fitness center (admission with resort fee)
  • Automated mining rig show
  • Wine Spectator-awarded Sterling's restaurant
Location

The Silver Legacy is located in the heart of downtown Reno and connected to Circus Circus and the Eldorado resorts by skyway.

Rooms

The deluxe king or two queen rooms are decorated in an Old West spirit with oak furniture, widescreen TV and all the expected amenities. Upgrade to a Spa Suite that offers a larger living area with an oversize Jacuzzi and expanded windows.

Wi-Fi is included in the resort fee.

Features

The seasonal pool deck includes a Jacuzzi, canopy beds (fees apply), food and drink service while an adjacent health club and spa offers massages and body treatments, Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and a well-equipped fitness center. The Silver Legacy has a full-service salon, small selection of retail and shoe shine. Entertainment includes the Catch a Rising Star comedy club and dueling pianos.

Headlining comedians, magicians and musical artists appear in the Grande Exposition hall and adjacent Reno Events Center. Aura ultra lounge, Drinx and Rum Bullions offer uncommon places to unwind and have a fun cocktail.

Dining

The Silver Legacy boasts the Wine Spectator-awarded Sterling's Seafood Steakhouse, an oyster bar and food court offering everything from Chinese noodles to New York deli favorites and pizza. Breakfast can be found at the buffet or 24-hour café.

Silver Legacy 07/2014

Checkin was fast and staff was nice. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Bathrooms were clean. There was a club on the casino level that played good music and good priced drinks. Didn't win on any machines, but I did eat at all three buffets (circus circus, silver legacy, and el dorado). Everything was very well priced. Will come back again

If you don't care for cigarette smoke...

The hotel itself was nice and centrally located. It is connected to 2 other casinos and has several restaurants, bars, night clubs, and lounges. Plenty of slot machines and other gaming too, but we didn't go for that. It was walking distance to many nice restaurants and tasting rooms, as well as the river. I booked a non-smoking room for 3 nights from July 3-6. The hotel staff was lovely and let me check in an hour early. Once I got to the room, I just wanted to shower and take a nap from the drive there. Ninety minutes into my nap, I woke up with swollen eyes and coughing profusely the way I used to when I had asthma attacks. I realized we were given a smoking room! Called the lobby and the manager said rooms were booked and there was nothing they could do until July 5. The manager sent a custodian with a air ionizer and it helped a lot, but still not enough for my allergies to subside. The custodian was a sweetie and the manager was to the point but friendly and apologetic. They were able tot get us a new room and it was a very nice corner room with a great view. We were pleased and went out for all you can eat sushi downstairs (very yummy!) followed by some drinks. About 2 hours after we had gone to bed, I woke up coughing again and realized that smoke was still coming through the air vents!! Not sure if people were smoking in non-smoking rooms or if that was just a product of bad central air/filtration system. I was mad but I knew there was nothing I could do. I wasn’t going to call management again after all the drama and I already knew there were no other available hotels close by. So, I ended up having to take medication the whole time I was there, which made me very sleepy all the time. So, if you are allergic to cigarettes, beware. I gave the hotel 4 stars because it's not their fault that I am that sensitive to cigarettes and because their customer service and location were stellar.

Not impressed

Arrived at the hotel and it took 30 minutes to get only a few guests checked in. Then I was told they had no water, they said it would be back up within the hour. The next morning we still had no water and upon check out they had no problem charging me another $14 for their hotel amenities fee. Not impressed for a hotel that is suppose to be 4 stars.

not good place

We reserved a king bed with non smoking. We were given a double room smoking. We were informed that this is what we requested.... Not true. All of our belongings smelled like smoke. I would not recommend this place again.

A must go again hotel !!

We went to the Silver Legacy because my sister had a baby so it wasn't far from the hospital. First time we went to Reno we stayed at the Circus Circus and we had a problem with bed bugs!!!!. due to our previous experience with circus circus we sprayed the whole room withe Bed bug spray "raid" this time at the SL we stayed in room 1910 .... Love the view we had from our room, it wasnt far from the elevator but we could hear the elevator go up and down, I think the ac should have more force to blow air out , but it works great .... housekepping could clean a little bit better I found a piece of candy under the bed. I think the first couple of floors should be for disabled people its really hard to find parking and being disabled and have to go all the way up... other then that the hotel is beautiful !!!!! will stay there again!!!!!

Holiday weekend getaway

We booked a deluxe, non-smoking, king bed room for 2 nights. When we arrived we were told there were only two rooms available: King smoking or Queen handicap. We chose handicap room. The bed was saggy and uncomfortable, we had a view of parking structure and wall, bathroom was like a hospital--not exactly romantic. It was holiday (4th of July) weekend, so parking was a nightmare. Swimming pool was very small and full of kids--why do people bring their kids to Reno?? I tried next day(with no luck) to get a different room. We were so irritated with our room, desk staff, parking and crowd that we didn't even stay second night but headed home. AWFUL experience overall. Advice to others: Don't stay at this hotel during a major holiday.
