Stunning remake with first-class entertainment and tropical pool
If you have never seen the Tropicana, it's time to witness the dramatic $200 million USD transformation of this legendary Vegas landmark. From front to back, the "Trop" is renovating for the modern era. Gone are the Fantasy Island motifs, since replaced by energetic inspirations from mid-century Havana and modern Miami. With changes in every room, suite and the casino, plus countless new restaurants and bars, guests at the Tropicana won't ever want to leave.
Highlights

  • Vibrant South-Beach inspired renovations throughout the Tropicana's rooms, casino, pool, restaurants and more
  • First-class entertainment includes Laugh Factory Las Vegas and starting May 2014
  • Award-winning Las Vegas tropical pool that has expansive deck with lush landscaping, waterfalls and private lounge spots and featuring Coconut Grove Bar
Rooms

Tropicana Las Vegas has completed an impressive update of their rooms while reviving the property's original Havana spirit, with warm orange and beige tones trimmed with white. Some original decor remains (ceiling accents, shower tiling), but substantial improvements and now standard amenities in all rooms include plantation shutters, firm Euro-Top Serta mattresses, iHome docking stations, 42" plasma HDTVs and 300-thread count linens. Upgrade to a Deluxe Room with Strip views, Bungalows with a pool view, the Paradise Suite with a spacious two-room floor plan, a two-story Penthouse Loft, or the luxurious Pool Villa or Sky Villas.

Features

From stand-up comics and revolving headlining performers to live DJs and bands in the 4,000-square-foot Tropicana Lounge, guests at Tropicana Las Vegas will want to do it all. Head to the redesigned casino and play, race and sports book, or any number of slots and game tables. Glow A Mandara Spa, fitness center, salon and barber shop, and select retail are also on property/ Weddings at the Tropicana are performed in an island chapel and outdoor gazebo. Free self- and valet parking are also available.

Clean and comfortable

The room was pretty plain but clean and the bed was soft. We booked the Paradise tower and when I got the room key I had to point out that he had put us in the other tower...which he switched to the proper area without issue. The bathroom was old; original tub, cracks in the ceiling and a constant drip from the tap, alas we were not there to sit in the loo so we were able to deal with that just fine. The Beach Cafe was a great breakfast with a nice patio. The wifi did not work in the room no matter what we tried and the $19.99 per day "resort" fee for it and the pool access was a crock. Not worth the two hours we spent out there. Would I return? Probably, but only if it was a rockin' cheap offer.

It's a very nice place, the location on the strip is good, close to the monorail. Nice casino, nice swimming pool. I recommend it!

Not so new

Stayed here as the images from the website looked like the hotel was fully renovated, but that was not the case. Maybe because I did a package with my flight and hotel I got one of the old rooms that haven't been touched in 20 years. However, the bed was perfectly comfortable and it was quiet and I slept well. The issues I have with the hotel is that the wifi wasn't working in my room and although they reset it 2x it didn't work all night. In the morning I was told by the front desk to try the area around the Starbucks in the hotel, but my computer still couldn't find a signal. It took an hour of mean complaining to the manger to get them to let me log on to the business center computer, which they let me do for 30 min. Total waste of my morning. So, if you go, go for the low rate and easy access to the hotels on the strip. I did like that it wasn't a big hotel and the casino part is actually quite small so you can get to room without walking for hours. Also, there is lots of natural daylight in the halls so I liked that too. However, with that said, I would be concerned that if I stayed there again I wouldn't get wifi in the room and be stuck with an outdated room.

Very nice hotel and location. Hotel staff was nece, too.

Quick check-in and we used Express Check-Out without waiting in line. The only thing we wish to have is the refrigerator. It was over 100 degree and it would be nice to have a refrigerator in our rooms.

Tropicana

I had a very good time at the Tropicana. The staff was especially helpful, and I did very well at the casino. The only negatives were the location (I prefer to stay further down the strip) and the resort fee (but almost all of the hotels have them). If you stay at the Tropicana you need to get yourself a bus pass, but you'll have a great time!

good enough

I came to stay here because the wedding was taking place at the hotel, but it was a whole lot of money for pretty basic things. The pool is ok, but all of the pictures they show are the ones for the party side, which means in order to enjoy the nice blue lounge beds you not only have to pay extra to be in there then pay more to be on them but you have to drink and listen to the DJ as well. Honestly, you are going to shell out a pretty penny at this place when everything adds up in the end. Stay somewhere nice instead.
