Stunning remake with first-class entertainment and tropical pool
If you have never seen the Tropicana, it's time to witness the dramatic $200 million USD transformation of this legendary Vegas landmark. From front to back, the "Trop" is renovating for the modern era. Gone are the Fantasy Island motifs, since replaced by energetic inspirations from mid-century Havana and modern Miami. With changes in every room, suite and the casino, plus countless new restaurants and bars, guests at the Tropicana won't ever want to leave.
Highlights

  • Vibrant South-Beach inspired renovations throughout the Tropicana's rooms, casino, pool, restaurants and more
  • First-class entertainment includes Laugh Factory Las Vegas and starting May 2014, the smash-hit musical MAMMA MIA!
  • Award-winning Las Vegas tropical pool that has expansive deck with lush landscaping, waterfalls and private lounge spots and featuring Coconut Grove Bar
Rooms

Tropicana Las Vegas has completed an impressive update of their rooms while reviving the property's original Havana spirit, with warm orange and beige tones trimmed with white. Some original decor remains (ceiling accents, shower tiling), but substantial improvements and now standard amenities in all rooms include plantation shutters, firm Euro-Top Serta mattresses, iHome docking stations, 42" plasma HDTVs and 300-thread count linens. Upgrade to a Deluxe Room with Strip views, Bungalows with a pool view, the Paradise Suite with a spacious two-room floor plan, a two-story Penthouse Loft, or the luxurious Pool Villa or Sky Villas.

Features

From stand-up comics and revolving headlining performers to live DJs and bands in the 4,000-square-foot Tropicana Lounge, guests at Tropicana Las Vegas will want to do it all. Head to the redesigned casino and play, race and sports book, or any number of slots and game tables. Glow A Mandara Spa, fitness center, salon and barber shop, and select retail are also on property/ Weddings at the Tropicana are performed in an island chapel and outdoor gazebo. Free self- and valet parking are also available.

Stay at Tropicana

We had a great time at the Tropicana. Overall it was a great deal. The rooms were very nice and clean. The beds were comfortable. The late night beach cafe had decent food. The only draw back to the Tropicana is the fact that it is on the smaller side compared to some of the other casinos, and as a result has limited dining options. However it is right next to New York New York and the MGM Grand, so this was only a minor issue. We had a great time and would definitely consider staying there again.

‘Smaller' is Better

We like this hotel as it is not one of the HUGE, multi-acre hotels. The gaming rooms are smaller, bright, and not crowded. For us, the location is great as we are there primarily for March Madness and it is close to the basketball venues. It is also close to the shows and exhibits throughout the Strip area…MGM Grand and NY NY are just across the street (walking). A large outlet mall is just down the street the other way (driving). It’s close to the freeways too to get to outlying outdoor spots; airport next door. We were put in the Club Tower this time, which is very far back from the front door…if you have walking issues, this could be a problem—a 5-10 minute walk. There are three restaurants which are nice but a bit pricey, and a small cafe for quick pickups (not open late). Would like to see a more comprehensive cafe for casual dining—especially breakfast items or late night soups/salads, etc. Rooms are very clean, nicely appointed and well planned—good and roomy bathroom. No coffee maker or refrigerator in room. Has nice pool areas that are enclosed in their courtyards…the “tropical” look. Self parking is not far from the front door…on ground level.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

About 3-4 miles south on Las Vegas Blvd. there’s a huge outlet mall. Since the Tropicana is on the far end of The Strip, the traffic down that way is minimal. A good diversion from the casinos.

Vegas Tropicana

The room is ordinary. Bathtub is not clean at all. Faucet drips. Hallway smelled smoke. I felt like walking into a budget hotel. There is no coffee pot in the room either. With over $250 per night I thought we would get a good hotel to stay.

great place

My stay at tropicana was great however the $19.99 resort fee is ridiculous. They say its for use of the pool, business center, and wifi however, all we used is wifi because the pool was closed. I believe in the winter months when the pool isnt in use the resort fee should be minimized. I pay $19.99 a month a my house for wifi and here i paid $67.00 but 3.5 days.

Not a 4 star but a solid 3

This hotel certainly was not a 4 star by any stretch of the imagination. Pros: Exceptional location - easy walking distance to all of the south strip venues. Nice enough room - think decent Holiday Inn Front desk - efficient and helpful Pool area although it was too cold to utilize looked very nice. Cons: Hallways dated and smelly Rooms dated and not as clean as they might be...
