great value at a nice hotel
our weekend family visit was great staying at Texas station. A little ways away from the big casinos although not too far. Staff was friendly and helpful. The bowling, movie and lounge areas were great and super inexpensive.

the good, the bad and the winless slots
decent as usual but I won't waste my money on the Wheel of Fortune any more. These jerks have tightened them up so much they squeek.

No win visit
Staying there for VA medical checkup. It is close to most clinics. My favorite breakfast restuarant was closed, evidently being replaced so I had to eat in the buffet which had lousy powdered scrambled eggs. The Texas has the Wheel of Fortune slots I like but they have tightened them up so much I can't win at all and I used to win enough to enjoy it just a year or so ago. I won't waste anymore money on their machines and will look at staying somewhere else.

Good for the price
If you're looking for luxury, you'll have to look elsewhere, but for the money I paid, this hotel was great for a family getaway (clean and quiet). Having the movie theater and bowling alley was a great convenience. My wife did well at the tables and so the casino managers were very accomadating. This is common to any casino, but this casino was much more personal. A manager came and talked to us personally and treated us to several "comped" meals and movie tickets. The front desk personel were great. [...], the clerk who welcomed us, saw that I had a toddler and provided a complimentary room refrigerator. We were treated very well.

Decent place
Took care of VA medical care, like to play the Wheel of Fortune slots but they have tightened them up too much, I have always won on them until the last two visits. I may as well stay at the Motel 6.

Reasonably Nice for the Price
Check in was quick, although I am offended that the "internet & other" mandatory charge is not included in the base [...]price.Drinks are very expensive and prices are not listed anywhere on the menu. Ask for the cost to avoid a surprise. The food and service was excellent. The room was clean and reasonably quiet.

Nightlife tip:
Short drive from hotel
This hotel is near nothing else, so if you will not have a car and don't want to spend your entire stay in the hotel casino area, you should consider another venue.

Ok
I love the amenities that the hotel offers. Babysitting, cinemas, bowling, and next doOr hotel has the ice skating rink for a small fee. Free wired or wireless internet access is a plus. The hotel room is a bit outdated but it was very clean and the bathroom is very good in size. The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. We tried the lunch buffet coz of the great reviews from others however, we were very dissapointed. Their's can't even come close compare to the buffet that downtown vegas has to offer. Tried their Coco's restaurant n they have d best pancakes we have ever tasted but their steak is dissapointing too specially since we paid quite a bit for it. It's a bit far away from the main strip but surprisingly it didnt bother us as much i guess coz of everything that the hotel offers plus the hotel was closer to drive to Mt. Charleston than if we stayed in one of the hotels in d strip.
