Couldn't ask for more!

OMG I had too choose a hotel for for a family trip. We ended up picking THEhotel at Mandalay Bay. What a great stay. The Hotel is amazing, modern and staff meets your every need. For the kids there is a huge wave pool and lazy river. Kids are going to be here all day long. They loved it. Only down side was THEhotel was a good ten minute walk from the wave pool. Mandalay bay is much closer. For those who are dog lovers, THEhotel is one of the few hotels that allows dogs. I only ran into two dogs, and the owners were extremely polite about how others felt about the dogs around them. Our room had no dog smell at all. The bads: As with all hotels in Vegas they all charge a RESORT fee. No one really knows where this fee goes to. For THEhotel just be for warned that they charge 100 per day against your room for resort fee and Amenities. However, when you check out they refund you all but 25 dollars per day. I stayed three days, two nights and was charged 200 and refunded 144.

Hints to save money: Bring your own booze from CVS/Costco to the room. Drinks at Hotel are 15 bucks each. As for food, walk the kids next door to Luxor and they have a food court. McDonalds, Nathans, Starbucks and other places that are far less then the cost at Mandalay Bay.

THE Hotel at Mandalay Bay

The Hotel is super nice, clean and the staff is great. Definitely suggest getting the Mlife card if you go to Vegas much. It would have been nice if the room had a refrigerator in it to help keep leftover food and drinks cool. No coffee maker either. There was a Keurig machine but no drink packets to put in the machine. Pools are excellent. If you want to get away from children and dig the toptional route then hit Moorea beach club.

good times, though kinda far away

Pools a plenty! Rooms are spacey (we stayed at The Hotel suite). LOVED Lights Nightclub, seriously check it out. Wished it was closer to the strip and that there was a food court for cheaper meals. Overall nice hotel and very helpful staff.

Lavish and fun

Our bachelor(ette) party of 20 people stayed in THEHotel and the Mandalay Bay, providing a variety of price options, while keeping us all close together. The hotel is beautifully decorated, with soaring ceilings, black and cream marble, beautiful lighting, and tons to do within the immediate area of the hotels. The food options and shopping are good. I give the place 4 starts because it's wonderfully decorated and it had everything we needed. I would have a loved a little more character or local culture in the hotel, but that's not what this place is about. Overall I'd stay here again.

Perfect!

Our suite was beautiful, I loved it! It was super clean. It's a bit of a distance from the strip, but there is so much you can do within the Mandalay Place that it's hardly matters. Too bad we didn't stay long enough to enjoy everything! I certainly would recommend it to a friend.

not good, arrived at 3pm checkin time, was told there were no rooms ready and would have to wait, but they were being cleaned, and i would get a text when the room was available. one hour later, no text, so i see another lady who was waiting go up and talk to the concierge and she gets her room, so i go up and ask why i haven't gotten a text since i got there first and the concierge said, "oh, the room happened to be ready just now", sure it did? walking up to the room, the hallway spelled like feces, wanted to gag, the room had a similar smell that dissipated later after coming back to the room hours later.

The Hotel, great ,since you don't have to go through the casino

Mini suite layout great.Always met for drinks in our rooms before going out to dinner. 12 people. Maid did a great job , cleaning up after us.Extra Pillows, extra towels , were promptly provided. One thing, to get a corkscrew, it took 35 minutes and there was a $2.50 , charge .That should be in the bar to begin with. It's a plastic corkscrew?? !!!!!!

Nice Rooms But Not A 5 Star Experience

Let me start by saying THE hotel has great rooms. All rooms are a full suite with living room and bedroom. It is clean and well kept. We did find some things odd in this hotel though. For starters, each room has a Keurig coffee maker in it, but there is a charge (about $4) if you make yourself a coffee. Very odd for a "5 Star" hotel as almost every hotel I stay in has a complimentary coffee maker. This is especially odd considering you pay a daily Resort Fee to stay at THE hotel. They also pump a perfume of some sort into the public areas of the hotel. This is far from subtle, when you walk into the hotel it hits you like a ton of bricks - it's very overpowering. I have light asthma, and it did irritate my lungs. Even my Wife found it too much. Breakfast was also included with our package for one morning of the stay, but no one was quite sure what that entailed. We were told to eat at the Buffet, but our credit wouldn't have covered the cost of the meal, we were then told just to eat at any restaurant and $40.00 would be deducted from our bill. When we went to check out the credit had not been applied, no one knew how to do it, or how the program even worked. They finally gave us a credit against our room rate to "fix it". This was a real surprise as this hotel is owned by MGM Resorts who owns a number of the mega resorts on the strip. You'd think they'd have something like this figured out by now.
