The Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower is often the first glimpse travelers get of the vibrant city of Las Vegas, since it can be seen clearly not only from McCarran International Airport (LAS), but from the seclusion of Red Rock Canyon some 20 miles away. Stay at 'The Strat' for an 80,000-square-foot casino, complete with a wide range of table games and video slots, a revolving restaurant, adrenaline-pumping thrill rides and a wedding chapel for the rapturously impulsive.  And whether it's dining at Zagat-rated restaurants, taking a dip in the crystal clear pools, or even shopping at the on-site magic store with dreams of emulating Las Vegas' magicians Penn & Teller, no traveler could get bored in this mini metropolis.

Neighborhood
Situated roughly halfway between the hustle and bustle of 'new' Vegas, with state-of-the-art complexes such as CityCenter, and classic 'old' Vegas - the city from the Bugsy Siegel era - the Stratosphere provides guests with the best of both worlds. Mix the glamor of 'The Strip' with the old-time romance of Fremont Street, and witness an amazing, overhead, free light show occurring every evening.
Hints and tips
Stratosphere's Air Bar is currently the highest bar in the city - at 800 feet - and offers views across the infamous Vegas skyline, but you will require a reservation, because access can be tricky on busy nights. If a rebellious alternative is more your thing, why not simply drop down just one floor to the Level 107 Lounge? Enjoy the same vista over 'bright light city' without the crowds.

Save your money

Our first trip to Vegas. We booked a standard room with a view. The view was a stucco wall. The room was tiny and was in the older part of the hotel, so it hadn't been updated in 20 years. The room number had fallen off the wall and laid on the floor during our stay. Trash was placed in the hallway by other guests and stayed for several days. The casino was low scale and always empty. I felt sorry for the dealers standing around with nothing to do.It's located at the end of the strip, so you're the first one picked up and the last one dropped off for all the shuttles. The only thing good about the place was the view from the top of the tower, but you can stay somewhere else and pay to go up the tower..

Staff are incompetent and rude

Have stayed at this hotel on several occasions and always been happy in the past, but the staff now are completely incompetent, rude and blatant liars. As usual I booked 2 Select rooms for a family holiday. At reception we firstly got told we only had 7 nights booked, even though we paid up front for 9 nights, and had to wait for 15 minutes while they confirmed the booking! we requested adjacent rooms, preferably with an adjoining door (have always made this request without problems), this was at 3pm on a quiet weekday. Got the usual "oh we are very busy so cannot do that" (casino was dead) After a while the clerk found rooms on the 6th floor looking at the car park wall. Went back and got the "oh well if you pay an extra $20 per room, per night, you can have a higher floor" After more messing around we had to settle for the 8th floor. End of the corridor and the family room had a tiny bathroom that fit one person and half the window obscured/damaged. Often the room would not be cleaned and the towels were not changed. Had to phone them several times. On last day requested late check out and at first the clerk said we had it until 3pm with no additional charge. After 10 mins going through it all and printing paperwork I confirmed the time and she said 11am! Had to go through process again, pay the $20 late check out and get new door cards. Half of our party went shopping up the strip, I got back with my son to find that the door cards had not been processed and was locked out of our rooms. The duty manager on reception managed to sort it out, the only member of staff who knew what they were doing. Had to stay in room though as rest of party didn't know about the door cards. Casino cage staff were also very rude and refused to changed up my loose change from the week. Even though they are newish the select rooms are looking ragged, probably because they no longer maintain/clean them properly. With resort fees now $20 a night plus tax it is a now an expensive hotel for its location

Fabulous 25th Birthday Getaway

It was very well kept, there's always life in this hotel! It's location is cool especially if you don't want to spend alot on food, you go towarfs downtown vegas & you have all your neighborhood shops like Denny's, 7-Eleven, burger king, 24hr Mexican Food shop (which has excellent tostada salads) & plenty more. I received so much free gifts from the stratosphere & other places I wasnt able to do everything lol. Overall it is worth every penny spent

My stay

Our rooms were nice and clean except it reeked of cigerettes. I tried to call room service in the morning for breakfast never could get anyone on the phone. But the lounge in the tower was awesome with amazing food and great deals on drinks

Great Holiday

The Stratosphere was better than the reviews, we read online. The bus goes all the way down the strip, no need to take a taxi. There is a car rental at the front desk if you want to see more of rural Vegas. The staff was friendly & helpful. The food in the buffet was excellent. They have their own mall & shows which had a bit of everything. We will definitely stay here again.
