The Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower is often the first glimpse travelers get of the vibrant city of Las Vegas, since it can be seen clearly not only from McCarran International Airport (LAS), but from the seclusion of Red Rock Canyon some 20 miles away. Stay at 'The Strat' for an 80,000-square-foot casino, complete with a wide range of table games and video slots, a revolving restaurant, adrenaline-pumping thrill rides and a wedding chapel for the rapturously impulsive.  And whether it's dining at Zagat-rated restaurants, taking a dip in the crystal clear pools, or even shopping at the on-site magic store with dreams of emulating Las Vegas' magicians Penn & Teller, no traveler could get bored in this mini metropolis.

Neighborhood
Situated roughly halfway between the hustle and bustle of 'new' Vegas, with state-of-the-art complexes such as CityCenter, and classic 'old' Vegas - the city from the Bugsy Siegel era - the Stratosphere provides guests with the best of both worlds. Mix the glamor of 'The Strip' with the old-time romance of Fremont Street, and witness an amazing, overhead, free light show occurring every evening.
Hints and tips
Stratosphere's Air Bar is currently the highest bar in the city - at 800 feet - and offers views across the infamous Vegas skyline, but you will require a reservation, because access can be tricky on busy nights. If a rebellious alternative is more your thing, why not simply drop down just one floor to the Level 107 Lounge? Enjoy the same vista over 'bright light city' without the crowds.

Great Hotel

It was pretty far from airport and hard to get main street. If you want to stay cheap hotel, it will be great. I recommend breakfast buffet, it was really good foods and kind service. Casino dealer was not so good but it was fine to me, I did care. You need to buy water if you stay the hotel, I could find a vending machine really hard! Enjoy!

Fun

Had a good time, friendly people but charging extra for early was a little tacky so I waited. The earlier you can get guests to check-in the more they spend in your casino I would imagine. Other than that everything was fun.

wished we hadn't stayed here

Hotel is tired, tacky and out of the centre. It ruined our Vegas stay and the food was awful. Pool is just a big concrete hole. It is cheap and the rooms are comfortable but its not worth it - stay somewhere nicer.

Nice room, the view is beautiful from the tower. Staff is very nice, even though a lady laughed at my accent on the phone when I asked for some information.

hotel ameditis

The entrance hall is very dark and uninviting. The restaurants are dark and the food is not healthy or good quality. Rom service shows only sometimes so there are days when the room are not cleaned. There is no coffee maker or fridge which made this place feels very little like home. Need for a drink requires going through the long corridors looking for an expensive bottle of water or cup of coffee. The air in air-conditioning system gave me severe allergy. I wasn't the only one in the hotel seen coughing and sneezing. The air quality seams to affect many. All attractions in the hotel were extra and not included. Swimming pool, tower access and discount capons for the rides were included in extra charge. Even though this hotel was recently renovated the atmosphere, darkness of the reception area, poor air quality and lack of perks makes this hotel not very competitive for the price. I would not stay there again.

There are several good restaurants on Sahara Street - stay away from the pricy junk food offered at the hotel.

Save your money

Our first trip to Vegas. We booked a standard room with a view. The view was a stucco wall. The room was tiny and was in the older part of the hotel, so it hadn't been updated in 20 years. The room number had fallen off the wall and laid on the floor during our stay. Trash was placed in the hallway by other guests and stayed for several days. The casino was low scale and always empty. I felt sorry for the dealers standing around with nothing to do.It's located at the end of the strip, so you're the first one picked up and the last one dropped off for all the shuttles. The only thing good about the place was the view from the top of the tower, but you can stay somewhere else and pay to go up the tower..
