Voodoo in the air at this Off-Strip Carnival, starring Penn & Teller
What began at Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino as a tribute to South America's Carnival has expanded to a full off-Strip resort with many assets. Rooms in two towers are all suite-sized with plenty of space to party. Entertainment includes the legendary Penn & Teller magic duo, the sexy "Show In the Sky" parade, Chippendales male revue, DJs at the rooftop VooDoo Lounge and revolving acts at the Crown Theater. The seasonal VooDoo beach includes several pools, a waterfall and sandy beach, flair bartenders and cabanas (fees apply).

Not the same Rio!
So the Rio hotel has eliminated their popular show in the sky which added so much atmosphere to the hotel. We were told the parent company closed the hourly show due to economic reasons. The staff said since the hotel is up for sale, minimal funds are being spent on this hotel. This is apparent in the casino where the blackjack tables are worn and tattered. The room layout is large but not guest friendly with the fridge and coffee machine on an opposite wall no where near the sink or counter. The room rate was $224 on a Saturday when I pre-booked but was down to $79 the day of. NOT GOING BACK!!

Very nice room
We were off the strip, but very happy with our room, was clean and bed were very comfortable. Pool was nice and staff was friendly. We will return for sure!

Perfect getaway for few days
My husband and I enjoyed our times staying at Rio. Nice quiet, and comfortable room. The best thing that the hotel was complimenting us with a non smoking room. We really appreciated that very much. we would come back there again and will recommend the Rio to our friends.

Mom's escape from reality
Had a wonderful time at the Rio in Las Vegas. Food was great, accommodations were quiet and comfortable. Staff was friendly.

nice place to stay.would have like coffee to be free with room cost.
room service was excellent.staff very helpful.had problems with coffee pot not working but was replace quickly.all problems were fixed quickly that we experinced with our room.

Good off-the-Strip Hotel
Good: Great buffets. I tried both the Seaford and Carnival cafe. Both excellent. Huge, clean, classy room - best I've ever stayed in Good price Great bag check personnel. Free Shuttle that takes you to the strip every 1/2 hr. Bad: Slow check-in - I waited about 1/2 hour with just 2 people in front of me. When I left, Saturday afternoon, there were about 300 people in line and that check-in must have taken 4-6 hours easily with only 2 people doing check-ins Bad waitress in the buffet. It took 1/2 hr for her to ask us for our drink order and another 1/2 hr for the drinks to arrive. I just ordered a soda. Also, while I was up getting food, she stacked other people's dirty dishes on my table. Poker room is small and usually deserted.

They charge a resort fee of about $20/day from which they tip the maids. I left a $2 tip and it was still there when I got back. When talking to another guest, he said the "resort fee" tips the staff including the maids, so that's why the maid didn't take my tip.

Economical place to stay near the strip
Not on the strip, but a good price and a short ride away. Large and clean rooms plus a great buffet.

The hotel is OK rooms need some updating very large and quiet rooms. The Voodoo lounge is grest on teh 51st floor. Staff was not the freindliest could try harder
