CityCenter's spruced-up neighbor keeps it fun and classy
"Unpretentiously luxurious" is the catchphrase used by Monte Carlo Resort and Casino, and it definitely holds true. This Las Vegas hotel pays homage to one of Europe's most lavish sites, but its new restaurants, bars, entertainers and penthouse-level boutique HOTEL32 mean you can use the words "opulent" and "swanky" in the same breath. Vegas comforts rounding out the Monte Carlo experience include a full spa, salon, serious fitness center and a pool deck with a lazy river, wave pool and cabanas (for a fee).

TERRIBLE !!!

It was terrible, the rooms were not cleaned well, the hot water didnt work, the lights didnt work and wen they did they were very dim. the bathroom fixtures were very out-to-date. There was a very very disgusting moth infestation. I had to cganged rooms and it was still not satisfying. It was worse than a motel. I wouldnt reccommend this disaster to anyone. from a 1-10 it doesnt even deserve a number and thats REALTALK !!! P.S. the only thing that i enjoyed was the Jabbawakees show, and they tried to make the room lokk like somthing with a 40" samsung..

Beds were not clean

We stayed 2 nights at the Monte Carlo. We checked in at night and we were tired. The bed smelled like the sheets were not changed for weeks and we had to call for assistance. We didn´t get anything from the management for standing 1 night of a bad smelling as no one came to change the sheets until next morning during the regular room cleaning. I would not stay there again.

Really bad!!

We booked a strip view room and being sent twice to a "freeway" back view room! After going dowwstair to checking desk twice and demand for a strip view room we got it finally at 8pm. The hotel compensated a $50 food credit but the restaurant (Cafe) inside Monte is horrible. The food is really bad. Also the bathroom in the stripview is terrible too. (Make weird noise) Overall a bad experience. My credit card is being charge extra $100 which should be only $38. I will call and see what happened. Never want to stay here again.

Vegas Nightmare

I've been to Vegas many times for business and for pleasure. This was one of the WORST experience I've ever had. The check in was fast since we arrived on a week night. When we first got into the room we were quite pleased with the room. It was roomy and the bed looked comfortable. However, when my mom went to the bathroom, she noticed the towel and the floor were dirty. We were tired from the long drive from L.A. and didn't really want to change room, so we requested new towels from housekeeping. As I began to unpack and take out my laptop to connect to the internet, there was no connection. I called the front desk and the lady told me to type in the floor & room number to access the wifi. I tried a several times but it didn't work. I called the front desk again, and the lady connected me to the technical dept. The tech dept told me there was no wifi on the floor where our room was (which was the 4th floor), and I would need to use cable connection. But we had 2 laptops (mine & my daughter's). The tech told me there's only wifi on floors 7~14. So I called the front desk to request for room change. The lady told me there's no wifi on any of the floors. The information the tech gave me was inaccurate. I can't believe none of the floors had wifi in a 4 star hotel. I asked for room change anyways, because the dirty towel/floor just doesn't feel right. They moved us to another room, but I had to go down to the front desk to pick up the keys. The 2nd room we were in was also dirty. It looked like someone had laid on the bed (the sheets were all wrinkled). There was a room key on the counter, and there was dirty towel on the bathroom sink. By the time we moved to the 3rd room, I was not a happy camper. The 3rd room was on the 24th floor which had a nice view of the pools. We had to settle with cable connection since there really isn't any wifi on ANY of the floors. My daughter wanted to watch tv, but there was no remote. We had to call housekeeping to get a remote, but it didn't work, because there was a problem with the TV! OMG! By this time it was close to midnight. We waited for the technician for more than 1/2 hr before he came to fix it. It was the longest night EVER! I would never go back to Monte Carlo again and wouldn't recommend anyone to go either. It is sad to see such a nice hotel go down the drain.

The good, the bad and the really ugly

The hotel lobby was beautiful. I was extremely upset that a non-smoking room was not available when I arrived. We had to sleep in a smoke filled room the first night. I realize that this is a request, but, what's the point if it can't be honored. People request this for a reason ... ie: allergies; which I have. Not to mention, I don't smoke, and I don't want to smell like it and I don't want my clothes smelling like it. Therefore, we did not sleep well the first night. This was a HUGE inconvenience, because we had to wait until after 1 p.m. the following day in order to get another room. We had planned to be out of the hotel really early Tuesday morning to start enjoying our vacation. Not to mention, the guy we dealt with at he counter during check in was not pleasurable at all. It's as if he felt the hotel was doing us a favor. He needs to remember we were helping pay his salary. I realize for as many check out a check in occurs, but, good bed side manner goes a long way. The non-smoking room was fine once we got in way, but, this caused us to waste valuable time. Next problem, check out, they were trying to charge a $50.00 resort fee ... I questioned this and the person checking me out again was not that pleasurable. She was just short of rude and said the person checking me in must have mentioned this to me. I explained that my reservation was already paid for [...] and why would they charge me a resort fee. She then asked, if I wanted her to pull the card that I signed in agreement to this. I told her yes, because I don't think I signed anyting to this effect. But, when she came with nothing in her hadn, she stated a supervisor authorized her to remove the fee. Why do people have to experience this? They wait until you are there to tell you this; this should be part of reservation payment through you if anything. What sense does it make for them to inform me of this when I'm checking in. How can it be refused and I've just flown in ... this is deception. But, the guy at check in was again just short of being rude never informed me of this; it was probably lost in conversation because we were upset about having to take a smoking room. I had feeling like I'm being taken and to wait until I'm checking in is absolutely ridiculous. I can't decide not to use that hotel because this has been paid for [...]. I had no choice about anything at that point. I should have to accept these inconveniences and charges. Now, I check my credit card this morning and see there is a charge of $150.00 pending for the Monte Carlo. Hopefully, it gets removed as promise. I have booked through other agencies as yours and did not experience this. The whole point in booking through agencies of this type is to get the best rates and not to have to deal with these types of issues. When making hotel reservations I've never experienced this about non-smoking rooms. I also requested a King size bed as well, which we got when we were able to switch rooms. However, I can deal with 2 queens if necessary; I just prefer a King siz. Therefore, we had great frustration at check in, the first night and then at check out. Needless to say, I'm very disappointed.

Too Much Work, Not Worth The Deal

I needed to add a night to our reservation before our original booking, so decided the easiest thing to do would be to call the hotel directly. It seemed to go well until I arrived less than an hour later. The check in seemed to take forever for everyone. There werent very many people waiting but there seemed to be issues with everyone. Unfortunately this applied to me as well since they didnt have a reservation for me. I didnt have a confermation code because I was driving and they said they would email it...no problem I can pull it up on my phone, right? No conformation email showed up either. Apparently my reservation went to a different hotel, of which then I was charged a no-show fee..of course since I wasnt going to the other hotel. A very nice desk clerk helped me the next day and "tried " to help get it reversed. Other mystery charges showed up on my bill to which the response I got from the staff was to dispute it with my CC company... REALLY!??? Also, the "deal" we got with all sorts of "free bees" that were really bad food and sooo not worth the "deal"...I spent more time at the front desk trying to resolve the additional fees and waiting for our discount cards than really anything else. Never getting our business again.

Totally disappointed

Upon arrival - we dropped our luggage inside the door and went out for the day. Upon return to our room - 19th floor - Rm 320 - being barefoot - my feet stuck to the floor due to residue and should of been notice before by housekeeping. The door in the bathroom had left a hole in the wall behind it and then we noticed the top sheets had stains - again large enough that housekeeping should of notice. After calling the front desk - they sent someone up to clean the floor and change the sheets BUT I mentioned that I should not have had to make the phone call in the first place and told them how disappointed I was in the cleanliness or lack of - of the room. I also noticed that the bathroom vent was full of dust.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Red Rock Canyon (about 20 minutes from the strip) - 13 mile scenic drive - spectacular scenery while driving at 35 mph or less. Cost was $7 per vehicle. You can view the rocks up close and climb to the top. Spectacular view - 19 different Hiking Trails which range from easy to strenuous and a newsletter is given to you at the beginning of trip that includes the information of the trails/distances/and level of difficulty of each trail. If you don't wish to hike the scenic drive is worth the $7 by itself. There are areas to stop and park and enjoy the view. We also went to the State Park a few miles from the Canyon. $9 per vehicle but a lovely area to view more mountains and hike.

Unpretentious for a reason :(

You would think from reading [...]description that this hotel rivals the other true luxury hotels in Vegas: Caesars, Bellagio, Venetian/Palazzo, etc... HECK NO. The lobby is nice too bad the carpet & walls in the elevators and hallways have been left in disrepair. In our first room in floor 23, a yogurt-like stain on the sheets, blood on the closet floor, filthy carpet (esp the corners), scuffed ceilings & walls, and exposed electronic wires galore... luckily, [...]in the front desk saved the day and moved us to room in floor 29 that was facing the strip (I guess these rooms are an upgrade to the non-view room)... this room was actually CLEAN though the carpet had some juice stains & the walls also had some scuffs. I was told by the bellhop that the other room was probably not cleaned at all (great!).The only reason I'm giving this one star versus two stars (because the second room we were given was livable though standard in terms of a room... no different from a regular fairfield inn etc.) is because of the price... I would have NOT minded paying a little extra for true luxury... needless to say the rate I received (3 nights for $300 + $45 in resort fees) was WAY overpriced. Also, the wave pool was not working... otherwise the pools were fine. I cannot imagine the weekend crowd because we stayed during the week and found really classless behavior (beer bottles & trash left throughout the hallways & rooms)... also ppl screaming at 3AM in the hallways... never had that happen at Palazzo. No coffee maker or mini-fridge in the room... weird... Also, why do the Starbucks downstairs have to double their price on everything while Rubios & McDonald's keep the same prices??? We liked having the tram available to escape to City Center & the other hotels...
