Good for what it is
The Pool area is incredible, as is the Casino floor and property in general. I had a blast, and everyone treated us really well. The bed is a bit older/spongy, but it wasn't a problem (I have memory foam at home so I'm spoiled). Some aspects of the room were a bit older... I don't want to say "dingy", but definitely a bit worn. There was also a hair on one of the pillows when we checked in. Seriously though, I'm being nitpicky here, because the room was great, and the Mandalay Bay is pretty sweet overall. Plus. for the rate I got booking online, it was WELL worth it.

Rude staff, poor service
Mandalay Bay started by not accommodating any of our requests. They failed to provide smoking rooms as requested, they also put us in what they called "two queen beds" rather than a king, however I sleep on a queen at home, and that certainly was not a queen. Additionally the room had not been fully prepared prior to arrival, there were no towels in the room and no tissue paper. Very odd things to leave off if I am honest. I attempted to call room service one night, the person that answered was so rude, that I ended the call and walked downstairs and fetched something myself. I am not in any way impressed by the Mandalay Bay, if you want a nice play to stay on the strip I would highly recommend the Venetian. Of all the places I have stayed, that has been by far my favorite.

Hit Downtown Las Vegas while you are there (Fremont St.) It has much lower table minimums for table games, there are a large number of casinos in a small area and it can be a great deal of fun to spend the day down there.

Good times
I am fairly new at this whole Vegas thing, and my needs are pretty specific as we travel as a family with our 8 year old daughter. We probably came on the wrong weekend: Cinco de Mayo with a hip hop concert happening at the resort. This drew in a huge hard partying crowd. The lines at check-in and check-out were long but moved fast as they were well staffed; check-out was a lot faster with the express checkout option. I left my name, room #, & email on a clipboard with a staff member & was out the door in less than 5 minutes; an itemized receipt was emailed to me before I got home. The hotel is beautifully appointed with modern decor and upscale marble and granite throughout. The rooms are well maintained and clean, and the staff is pleasant. Not a big fan of the layouts of Vegas hotels, this one included. The bathrooms always seem to be a supreme hike out to the basement or other nether area, and you always have to walk through the casino to get to it. Not good when you have to drag your child through a smoky casino and clientele in varying states of attire and sobriety just to use the bathroom. We liked the Shark Reef Aquarium though we missed the shark feeding. The sharks that we did see were more cute than anything, small 3-5 footers that we got good views of in the tunnels where they swam above and along side. There was an open petting tank for the rays. I felt more sorry for them for being poked at by the throngs of visitors with their impatient children. This could have used more supervision; someone on the intercom was issuing warnings, but I didn't see anyone coming around to monitor or model what exactly is appropriate. In walking from one tank to the next, I noticed a small puddle of water outside one of the tanks; many of the employees walked by unconcerned, so I didn't bother to report it, but it made me wonder how long it'd been since the facility was maintained or upgraded. Overall though, the facility was clean, and there was just enough for us to look at and walk through for an hour or so. I probably wouldn't re-visit this but am glad we went this time. Mandalay Beach is gorgeous. The wave pool and the lazy river were my daughter's favorites. Word to the wise: if you are with children, go early to enjoy them properly. By noon, all the lounge chairs are taken as well as the cabanas, imbibing adults on inner tubes dominate the lazy river, and the wave pool becomes crowded as well. We went as soon as it opened on the 2nd day, and none of these were an issue as they had been on the 1st. That was our experience at Mandalay Bay. We would probably stay there again, avoiding big concert weekends, and we do recommend it. One last thing, the location of the actual hotel is at the south end of the strip. There is a tram to the Luxor and Excalibur, but beyond that, be prepared for a long hike or for the long lines at the taxi stands. When with a child, this can seem like an eternity.

My Experience At The Madalay Bay
I requested a king bed room up on the higher floor. I was told that wouldn't be a problem. I had been calling each day talking to the staff concerning my stay. It was my husband`s birthday they stated they were putting all these different codes which meant nothing. They didnt do anything special. With all that you pay a complimentary breakfast or something should have been included. I have to request that the dirty sheets were changed they hv a three day same sheet policy. The tub nor sink was cleaned I had to request it snd yesI mmentioned it to the manager I was told they try to save water because the holet is sooo big I will not stay here again I selected the MGM at first I wish I would have stuck with it.

They have almost everything
Staying at the Mandalay Bay Hotel is quite the experience as there is not much the hotel does not have. Filled with an array of different restaurants, lounges and a small handful of shopping options we did not have to do much jumping between hotels to find entertainment. The House of Blues is a fun experience and they hold live concerts nightly. My wife and I were able to see Carlos Santana live and did not have to plan for it as we bought tickets last minute. The theatre at the restaurant is one of the best designed I have ever seen. Hotel staff were beyond helpful but this could not help that the room service food was lack luster at best...don't do it! Get dressed and go downstairs to enjoy the restaurants!
