Not impressed.

I was excited to stay at the MGM after a coworker recommended it. Needless to say, I was not impressed. The front desk agent who checked me in didn't even welcome me and was gruff. The lights in my room blew out as soon as I walked in the door so engineering had to fix them. Also, watch your bill- I was charged for a buffet I never went to and when I called to inquire about the charge, I was hung up on and on the third try, was told someone would be in touch-still have heard nothing back. Ordered room service one night and $7.00 for a coke...really? Would've been much better staying somewhere else and plan on doing so next time!!

Clean, quiet, but lacks personal service

You'll be comfortable here, but there is lots of information that remains hidden unless you happen to find out about it such as; no free pool, cheap airport shuttles, express checkout, etc.

MGM Grand

I love the casino at the MGM and all the bars, clubs it has to offer. It's my favourite place to gamble in Vegas, I feel very comfortable there. The hotel room on otherhand was a bit of a letdown. It was clean and well maintained but a bit on the small side. The bathroom wasn't even a bathroom. It was the first area you were in as soon as you walked into the room and not a separate section. The basin area was so small you'd struggle to put any toiletries on it. I've stayed at 3 other hotels in Vegas and paid roughly the same price and always had really big rooms which is why this one was so dissapointing. I think next time I'll stay at another hotel and go to the MGM for the entertainment instead. Maybe the other rooms are better but I think they need to up their game for it to match the rest of the resort.

Las Vegas in January is Great

It was a great time. I stayed in the West Tower which needs some renovations. The Petit Room was perfect for one person. The bathroom is open and very sterile. Definitely designed by a man. However, the location was great. There was no need to walk on the streets to get to other spots on the strip. The monorail was the best way to travel in Las Vegas.

Better Than Average

This place has international events and five star entertainment options. It also has a very costly Starbucks and some other restaurants, a massive number of slots, decent to very nice to fabulous rooms and suites and free parking. The $25 + daily fee is a real pain and they should roll it into the rent or give some gamblers comps to cover it. Be ready to pay top $ for food and drink and room service is another whole issue in cost. However the club sandwich on room service could serve two or three. The tea you have with it cost $8 or so. It is about as large as your medium fast food drink in size. The food, room service and other purchases are so expensive, they should comp them. If you gamble, you will not go broke as fast as you think. You might even win a car and they don't seem to make it likely or heavily promote it. I frequently see prizes in the better places but they are half hearted about it. . The less elite casinos have prizes everywhere. A nice feature is the cash allowance I got at check-in. It was just less than the fee for amenities or whatever it is. Finally, if you can, arrive at a non busy time. The place gets really packed but it is fun even then.

Money-saving tip: Long walk from hotel

You do not need a rental car. It is only about $7 to get from the airport on the shuttle. BUT bring all the items you need. Just getting around inside the Mega Palace is a walk. Nearby, there are drugstores. If you want anything else, plan on driving. They have essentials, here and there but anything you need like a small milk (10 ounce) is 2 or $3-- dental floss is 4 or $5, and I never did find socks.
