Love the River

I go to MGM to enjoy the river pool... other things are good too. I'm a senior citizen and did not find unruly behavior / excessive drinking at the pool as others have reported. As a resort fee is now charged, MGM should stop charging for the inner tubes and instead have them freely available for guests. The maid for my room was a delight. She did much to ensure I enjoyed my stay. I thought the bed too soft, but found my sleep to be refreshing. I believe the pillows and quilt to be well filled down. It was all white and felt very European. Ka is playing there. I see a Cirque du Soleil on every trip to Las Vegas. "O" is my favorite, but the staging, talent and visual art of KA is phenomenal. It was Grand to have KA presented where I was staying. I was in Las Vegas with others who stayed at Paris, so I can compare a bit. I thought the Paris buffet to be much better, only Paris had a much higher noise level in the public areas and few concierge (resulting in long waits to get a quick answers). MGM had 3 - 4 times more concierge, and having questions to ask several times, never had to wait. Paris has many more stores presenting items not available in the MGM stores.

Time-saving tip: Long walk from hotel

The strip is long and MGM is a distance from the outside shows provided by Treasure Island, Bellagio and Mirage. Many street crossings require going up a level to use a bridge. A 24 hour bus pass is available for $8 to ride from MGM/NY/Excalibur to Paris and onto downtown. I believe a 72 hour pass is $20. Passes can be purchased from machines outside the MGM, Excalibur, Paris and Bellagio. The bus is more convenient and less expensive than the tram. I got this tip from a concierge at Paris.

Annoyances

My friend and I stayed for 2 nights. We arrived in Vegas early and got early check in, which was great even though it included a small fee. Here was the problem. We went upstairs to rest and housekeeping kept trying to let themselves into our room even after we told them someone was in the room and asked what they wanted. Apparently our shower curtain was due to be changed. So, we go out the next day. The DO NOT DISTURB sign was definitely taken off the door. When we arrived back to our hotel room 5 hours later, housekeeping had not been there. We decided that since we were leaving the next morning and didn't need anything, we'd let it go. But, it definitely marred the experience.

pretty good experience

Check in went surprisingly quick considering it was nascar weekend/pac 12. Got into room early about 5 hours early and didnt charge us anything extra for it. location of the hotel makes if for a bit of walking if you wanna check out the other hotels on the strip but nothing to terrible. Buffet wasnt very good here, but the rainforest cafe was pretty good. Just wish i had more time to enjoy their huge pool/lazy river area. All and all a great trip would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to go to Vegas.

Annual trip with friends

Great place to stay, overall. Every staff member, from front desk, housekeeping, casino/bar staff, were so friendly and helpful. Couldn't have been nicer. The hotel is lovely, clean, & impressive. The hotel stay itself is not a crazy price but drinks were incredibly expensive. In saying that, you'll spend what you want to spend.

I was very very pleased

I stayed at MGM because I was looking for a really nice hotel for a really good price - and that is what I got. I think the hotel was fancy enough (of course if you walk into the pricier hotels they do have some more "oohh and ahhh" factors, but they are also way more expensive). There was nothing in particular that I was not satisfied with. The staff were very helpful, the pool was great. the rooms were very nice and comfy. I went with a bachelorette party and there was a good mix of young single people and families. They have a lot of food variety options from upscale classy overpriced to cheap and edible food, so you can get what you want. I was very very pleased and would recommend it to my friends.

Just not what I expected

I was expecting the MGM to be really nice. We got stuck in a business type room with no mini fridge for 4 nights. The room had one small window and only two side table lamps. The floor lamp was burnt out, so the lighting was horrible to her ready in. House keeping the first day knocked on our door at 7:45am!!!! It's Vegas, people are sleeping at 7:45 am because we didn't go to sleep until 7 am! Then the next two days housekeeping never came. The TV signal was awful. The TV kept shutting on and off. Then on one of the days a water pipe broke in the tower we stayed in so we couldn't take a shower for hours. When we called to find out why the water was working we didn't even get an apology or any other thing comped for the inconvience. Yes, there are beautiful things about this property. I just expected more from my stay
