Luxor not so luxurious
The decor of the Luxor is quite appealing and exotic with its Egyptian motif. The staff was very helpful, and the buffet was a good value if you buy the day pass. The room was not well maintained: the armoir had a broken door, the bathroom tiles were not grouted well, the windows were filthy, and there was no in-room complimentary coffee or tea, a chintzy omission, considering the cost of the accommodation.

Buy the day pass for $35, which gets you into the buffet at the Luxor and the Excaliber. Don't bother with the Excalibre buffet, as it is more like a crowded cafeteria. The Luxor buffet atmosphere is much more private and appealing.

Very Satiffied with Stay
We could not have been any more satisfied with our stay at the Luxor Hotel. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. I loved the room as well as the wonderful scenery when you walked out of your room. gave you a sense of being in egypt. Parking was not a problem as well. I would recommend to any one to stay with them and the price was very reasonable. Loved it and will be returning in the future for another stay.

The Bad: 1. Hotel staff don't really want to help that much, from the front desk up to management. They just want to herd you through like sheep. 2. Rooms are dark, poorly lit and the A/C hardly keeps it cool. The room just stays humid and there are no windows to open. 3. Guest services, for me I wanted several shirts dry cleaned as soon as I checked in as I had planned on wearing one that night. After being assured that the 6 hr turn around service would have them there in time they still showed up late the next day with no apology or discount. 4. Food, I did't get room service because I did not want to eat in a humid dark room, So I went to the Luxors MORE buffet. It was disappointing as well. Its full of cheap low end mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, bland spaghetti, decaying salad. That was lunch, maybe breakfast or dinner is better. 5. Pool is super simple and basic. The will check every bag and body cavity to see if you are trying to bring in any food, water alcohol etc. You have to buy theirs. As we went into the water we were ordered to get back out so they could clean it due to some kid pooping it. The Good: 1. Rates are cheap! just like the rooms 2. I was on the 6th floor close to the elevators and it was quiet and I never smelled cigarette smoke in my room. 3. Its connected to Mandalay Bay and thats the closest place with good food, service and pools. Tip: Go to the front desk at Mandalay Bay and tell them your friends are staying there and you want to meet them at the pool, tip a few bucks and get your own pass. Overall the quality is very poor but you get what you pay for. If you don't plan at spending any time at your hotel except to sleep and shower, go for it. HIGHLY recommended if you book through here so they do not hit you with a bevy of extra charges like my less fortunate friend. Do yourself a favor and pony up a couple more dollars to stay at Mandalay Bay or somewhere else.

perfect except one problem
We had an amazing 5 nights at this hotel. Everything you could need, food drink, casino, pool and spa. Clean rooms although sometimes the hallway smelled a it.musty but it never came into our room. The location was far enough away that you can get away from all the lights and noise of traffic, things are a long walk away but then so is the hotel next door!!! Everything is so big! There is a tram to next door hotel either side which is great, but if you want to get to the hotel from excalibur you have to go to mandalay bay and come back. Never quite worked out way?? The was.one big problem in the hotel but it was also inside other hotels as well, timeshare reps!!!!! We got accosted the.moment we wheeled our cases into the hotel. When they asked if we were checking in, we said yes, and thought that was what they were doing. Soon we had parted with $50 and signed up to a 3 hour timeshare meeting the next day. We did get money back and some tickets for a show after we has listened to the hard sell! We were then asked several times a day if we wanted free tickets and to go to a meeting!!! Usually by the same person everytime. It proves they don't even look at you when the same are speaking. It became extremely annoying and put a dampener on our time there. You felt you ran the gauntlet everytime you came out of your room. Other than that it was great

For the cost the room was perfect! It was a great sized room, with a decent amount of space. The bathroom was pretty awesome, especially the bathtub and separate shower. The only thing I would add is a mini fridge and microwave.
