Inside the infamous Pyramid, discover fantasy, fun and luxury
Let's be straight: If this pyramid-shaped resort was just a gimmick, it wouldn't have lasted. And recent updates have definitely put the Luxor back on the map. Entertainment takes the spotlight, including edgy magician Criss Angel, primo prop comic Carrot Top, the sexy Fantasy showgirls, Menopause the Musical and two great exhibitions, Titanic and Bodies. The hot nightclubs LAX and CatHouse are here too, alongside several casino floor lounges, fantastic restaurants and a big pool deck. Good, solid hotel
This hotel was a good experience. However, it lacked that something special that Vegas often has. The buffet was terrible and often when trying to call to figure out scheduling it was difficult to get someone on the phone. Also they advertised a checkout online that did not work.

Nothing to Write Home About
Luxor has been around for a while, but it still offers good rates and that was the reason for our recent stay there. The location at one end of the strip is a hindrance. One has to walk a lot or take a lot of taxis to get to the middle of the strip where the great hotels and attractions are. Our king bed was so lumpy and lopsided that we had to change rooms after we had checked in 30 min.! And they had no more kings available to we downgraded to queen beds (of which we used only one). The choices of fine food is very limited at the Luxor. Their food court on the mezzanine is like being at a food court at an ordinary mall. Aside from a tiny amount of gambling, we did all our entertainment and shows at other hotels. At the end, our decision was that we would not stay at the Luxor anymore, since we do most of our activities elsewhere. It is a better idea to spend more money on a better hotel room than all the money on taxis!

The Luxor Experience
My lady and I had a very nice time at the Luxor. Our first night was a big winner which lasted the whole stay. Only negative was the buffet, which had a limited selection for lunch.
