The Luxor might not be the oldest hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, but built in the shape of an Egyptian-style pyramid with a fully-intact stone Sphinx out front, it has a character all its own -as well as being the sixth-largest hotel in the world. Renovated in 2008, Luxor Hotel Las Vegas hosts world-class performers like magician Criss Angel, and features a sky bridge jam-packed with upscale boutiques. Dream of ancient civilizations as you float past pillars in the hotel's oasis-like pools, before hitting the dance floor at the LAX Nightclub. Don't want to miss the game while you're working your way through the drinks menu? The Playbar lets guests keep updated with the latest plays and scores while they sip.

Luxor stay

We just used the hotel for a one night layover stay while waiting to fly out the next day. We don't gamble but the hotel location on the strip was nice and interesting. I thought the elevators were going to vibrate apart going to the 14th floor --which was a little unnerving. The easy access to Mandalay Bay and the Excelsior made it convenient and the location near the strip was interesting. On the trip in we stayed at the South Point--a locals casino--which is newer and more up-to-date. If we go back we will try to stay there.

Room Unavailable

Hotel did not meet my expectations. When we arrived, the room we had requested was no longer available. The front desk told me they were sold out for the night. We were placed in a handicap accessible room on the first floor (casino level) and had to be moved to a different room the next day. In the morning, I went and spoke with the manager, the only compensation I was given was 2 passes to the buffet - which was nothing special. I will not be staying at the Luxor again.

Not a quality place

We stayed at the luxor and did not feel it was a nice hotel. Our room was dark. No coffee pot or fridge in the room. They want you to go to the food court and give Starbucks all you money. We were charged 89.95 for resort fees on top of the hotel costs. I wanted to take a shower after working out on the treadmill and they wanted me to pay $6.00 to take a shower. Our room smelled of sewer the morning we were leaving. Our room was on the casino floor. The night we arrived on the red eye flight we waited in a line for more than 30 minutes to get our room key. No one offered to help us to our room. We were told we would have $20.00 credit for food or beverages. The coupon was only good in their most expensive restaurants or in the bars. I would never stay there again even if it were free The man at the bell boy station was nice to us and we were able to leave our bags there until our departure without a fee. That is the only good comment I have.

Spring Break

I had a wonderful time in Las Vegas, well spent spring break. My stay at Luxor was good, the rooms were clean and very comfortable. Fast check in and check out however it would have been better if the elevators were functioning properly. I waited a lot to catch the elevators during check in and check out, I was a bit frustuated I must admit. Other than that it was too. Friends and I ate at the buffet and and went to Lax club.
