Convenient

Convenient location if you are staying there due to a conference. Room was just ok. The painter missed some areas on the ceiling, the closet door fell off the track and the shower water pressure was extremely low and had a constant drip when off.

Great rooms

Our stay at the hotel was great, the room was nice and clean and we had a great view. The hotel was very close to the strip so it was easy to get around to the Las Vegas strip. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Big Value for the Money

Self-parking a slight distance away but not an issue if you can walk and carry your own luggage. Check-In smooth. Politely offered an upgrade which I declined. Room with two double beds looked like it was intended to provide double-occupancy for folks attending a convention or conference. Room was nicely decorated, TV was large, bed was comfortable. Air conditioner efficient and quiet. Coffee and water bottles in room carried signs that if used you pay $4 each. We put these away so our 2 year old didn't accidentally open them. Got takeaway breakfast of coffee and baked goods in the lobby which nearly amounted to what we paid for the room. This location is away from the other main hotel/casino areas of town which was fine with us. At $22+tax the room was a terrific value! No resort fee!

Valley of Fire layover

Hotel provided a place to stay while we visited nearby Valley of Fire State Park--a must see for visitors. Hotel was 10 to 15 min off the strip. Had a couple of restaurants, not much of a selection though. Smaller casino. Charged for internet. Sm btl of water in room was expensive--an example of other fees. No fridge or microwave. Room was clean and roomy, bed firm. Bathroom small. Staff was friendly. Biggest plus was price of room and NO resort fees.

Dirty - and Old

The hotel was dirty - old and run down. Do not confuse this with Hilton or Hilton service. It is dirty and the staff does not care. Water in the room is $8, coffee is $6 (in the room). The breakfast buffet was closed while I was there - so it is hard to find a restaruarnt without walking for a mile or taking the monorail. A One out of Five.

Excellent Derby HQ

Friends and I go to Las Vegas every year for the Kentucky Oaks/Derby race days and have made the Las Vegas Hotel our Derby headquarters for the past two years. We have found the LVH, with its large and nicely appointed Race and Sports Book to be ideal for our purposes. The room rates are reasonable, amenities -- pool, walking/jogging track, restaurants -- good and the off-the-Strip location providing an overall calmer atmosphere not only fine, but desirable for us.

A Convention Hotel

The only reason I can think of why anyone would stay at the LVH is it's location to the Las Vegas Convention Center, or they want a really cheap hotel room. There's a reason why it's not a Hilton Hotel anymore! It's dated and needs work. Lot's of work. I first time stayed at this property was almost 40 years ago when it was the Las Vegas Hilton and Elvis was in residence. It seems that little has change it that time. The best part of this hotel is the staff.

LVH - Not on the Strip But Close Enough

OK, I've stayed at the LVH at least 5 times. I tend to do Vegas in the traditional manner: eat, drink, smoke, gamble ... and repeat. That said, being ON the strip is not as important to me. It's easy enough to drive to the Mirage at the north or the Luxor on the south if I need to access the strip. This last stay was great. Went mainly for the Mayweather fight. I got a great room in the Central tower. Huge bed and a great view. There's enough food places inside the hotel to fulfill whatever your needs. LVH has a Go Green room service discount that you can use on your meals to help offset the inflated prices of the meals (IMO all hotel restaurant prices are outrageous). Also, remember LVH does not have resort fees.

Dining tip: Not Applicable

Renting a car goes a long way. You make up the cost elsewhere. Eat away from the strip will save money. Plus you can visit restaurants not on the Strip (shout out to In-N-Out Burgers). The strip is a short drive away (take Paradise Rd instead of driving the Strip if you want to reduce driving time).
