Not impressed
Location of the flamingo is great! Couldn't beat that, and the view from our room during the day was spectacular! BUT at night time?? You're better off going outside, the bright lights hit the window and the windows are sooooooooo dirty on the outside that you can hardly see ! Such a disappointment for a tourist. I complained but they only said they only clean them every 3+ months. Our room was also very muggy and moist for the first 2 days! I ended up complaining on the third day when I noticed my clothes in the suitcase were damp.. Maintenance came out and said that a main switch inside the unit was turned off so he had to manually turn it back on. How do you put guest in a room and have their air turned off? Just overall was not impressed with the hotel and think that next time we will try out somewhere else.

Location & Habitat are pluses
We got a good flight & hotel package deal and stayed at the Flamingo 2/26/2013 - 3/1/2013. We were provided with a room upgrade on the 26th floor overlooking the strip . . . a pretty nice view. I also had trouble accessing internet in the room, called the help line and they resolved the problem quickly and provided us with free internet access for the duration of our stay. The two big pluses are the location of the hotel on the strip, and the outdoor habitat. The pool would have probably been great also, but it was closed for the winter season. This is definitely an older facility and the bathroom in particular was pretty dated. But if you are looking for an "economy" place to stay, centrally located on the strip, with access to a "natural escape (the Habitat) from all the noise and lights, the Flamingo will work well for you. Note that as is standard on the strip, EVERYTHING extra costs money and will be way over-priced.

If you're on a budget the Flamingo is the best hotel to stay at. It's location is smack in the middle of everything. You feel safe and in the midst of the strip. You don't have to spend on resort fees. The in house amenities are great, clean and professional services. I'm sure the other hotels are more luxurious BUT if you're out and about what does that matter? If you stay at the Flamingo make sure you have a dinner at the Center Cut Steakhouse, awesome food and service.

We have stayed here a couple of times before. Always enjoyed the hot tub and pool area. Rooms looking out over the strip are the best. Previous rooms had views of the fountains at Ceasars and the Bellagio. Getting a little dated but when you can get a good price its a nice stay. Room was clean and kind of funky!

Dissapointed guests
True Disapointment
Night one we discovered six cockroaches in our room and were so grossed out we could not sleep. The room looked nothing like the pictures on the Flamingo website. The hallway leaading up to our room had severly streched out carpet that my wife tripped on landing on soaking wet and smelly carpet from a leaking ice machine. After complaining we were moved to another suite that was quite a bit larger but once again the room was super outdated and dissapointing. We spent a lot of money in the casino and tried our best to stay out of our room. We are just so upset, we are a working class couple with five kids and saved for two years for this trip. It will probably be two years before we can afford to make another trip to Las Vegas but we would be hard pressed to return to the Flamingo even though it is in a great location on the strip the rooms we stayed in were just way too dated and dirty.

Flamingo escape
Room was fine, clean and serviced daily. Reception staff not very forthcoming with information, eg if you don't leave a credit card on account, you can't sign to your room (including breakfast), wi-fi (14$ a day per item!), room service, etc. Surprised with the queueing culture - it's not ok for me to wait 20mins to get a croissant and coffee :-( Avoid the timeshare touts at both ends of the hotel trying to bribe you with free show tickets and free breakfast... Real Flamingos in the gardens at the back of the hotel. Brilliant central location on the Strip, just be prepared for a lot of walking.

The Freemont Street Experience downtown is well worth a visit for live (rock) music, cheaper bars and gift shops and casinos as well as a great atmosphere. The Strip is like living in a capital city.
