Best Holiday Ever

We had a fabulous time on our holiday. The hotel was clean, room was spacious and location was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. Not as glamarous as some of the more expensive hotels but to be honest we did not mind this as we still visited these on our trip.

You get what you pay for....

I wasn't exactly expecting the Bellagio for what I paid...but let me share a few things. First and foremost, I had read the many reviews about the solicitors in the lobby and walkway. It is true they are a nuisance, but as long as you ignore them or say 'no thank you', it's not a big deal. We had no hot water on the second day, and we had to leave for a canyon tour by 6:00 AM from the lobby. I was pleased that within three minutes, they had someone knocking on my door to check on it. It took about seven minutes to run until it finally got hot. He said that happens hit or miss throughout the building, but that the piping was new. I had read about this issue on some of the reviews, as well. The worst part is that there was also a clog in the shower, so as you can imagine, after seven minutes of continuously running water and then being able to shower I wasn't very pleased with standing in three inches of filth. The service man said he would fix the clog while we were at the canyon, and I was pleased he did. However, both were inconveniences I shouldn't have had to endure. They charged us $20 to check-in early because we got there at 10:30. We could have had the bell boy hold our luggage until 3:00 PM, but I would STRONGLY recommend paying that $20 because trust me, the lines were crazy long later. My husband and I were so thankful we made that decision. Our flight didn't leave until 11:30 PM Friday, and to stay three extra hours was $28 - but we just had the bell boy hold our luggage that time. Not sure why it would be more expensive to stay three extra hours as compared to checking in four and half hours at $20, but whatever. I felt like it was more difficult to get a drink when gambling at Excalibur than at some of the other hotels, so we quickly learned to spend our money elsewhere. The largest pool was also not open, due to the season which disappointed us because with it being unusually hot (90s) this past week, it was literally a sardine can. The kids' pool was crazy and that's another issue I feel one should consider. IF YOU WANT A VACATION AWAY FROM KIDS, THEN THE EXCALIBUR IS NOT FOR YOU!!! We have kids and love them dearly, but I should have known better. Castle themes...knights shows....dungeon game room...it was kids, kids, kids everywhere. Splashing you in the pool. Crying in the restaurants. Dodging strollers in the main walkway at the casino. Live and learn. With Excalibur being one of the least expensive on the Strip, of course families will go there. You get what you pay for - so true! Another item is at check-in, the lady asked for my email address, which I thought was for my bill/receipt. It actually signed us up for an 'M-Life' card which is basically a loyalty card. However, she did not ask our permission first or mention she was signing us up. She also didn't speak English very well, so that may be why she really didn't explain the product and handed us a brochure and the cards. A very deceptive ploy for the sign-up but no big deal, the card doesn't hurt anything and if you're a big spender, the comps may be worth the inconvenience. Some positives. I will say the room was actually pretty clean for the price. It is true you should pay to upgrade to Tower II, but we didn't and still had a nice view from the 9th floor in Tower I. Keep in mind - if you stay in Tower I like we did, it means you have to walk all the way across the casino in your swim attire. The Tram feature and being able to go between Luxor and Mandalay Bay is nice. I have stayed at Planet Hollywood and Luxor before but in comparison I would say the others were better, even Luxor. I would not recommend Excalibur for someone traveling without children, even though it is less expensive. If my kids were along, then of course, that would be ideal. I hope this is helpful.

Worth the money

Needed to be near Four Seasons, so the price was right. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Had a view of NYNY hotel. Staff were very friendly to questions and recommendations. Easy access to Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Four Seasons with the tram. It's not like the luxury hotels, but can't beat it for the money. It would be nice if they had wireless wifi in the rooms. The ethernet cable only good for 1 computer.

Average Stay, Nothing Special

We booked 2queen bed NON smoking of their contemporary rooms for this stay. We arrived at the hotel @ around 7:00pm and they told us they did not have our rooms available. They only had smoking rooms available. They put us in a queen smoking room and in a king bed room that was non smoking. The smoking room room was unacceptable the smell was disgusting, not to mention I had my 4 yr old with me. I went down stairs and let the manager know how upset I was. I stayed in the king bed room and then they magically found a non smoking room with queen size beds. The second night we stayed they moved us into the correct rooms that were neighboring and had a view of the strip. The inconvenience sucked. But on the bright side they waived the resort fees for both rooms and both nights which was a big + saving us money. The staff was polite. I just don't think it should take someone becoming upset before they properly fix the issue.

You get what you pay for

Had a quick night in Vegas and Excalibur fit the bill. Nice location for fast access to the Mc Carran airport. It also connects to Luxor and Tram. I really wish there were more accommodations, food wise for vegetarians or at least more vegetarian options at one of the sit down restaurants. Ultimately, you get what you pay for.
