Budget motel with a pass to high-class amenities
The Annex is the result of four-star hotel The Chelsea taking a Howard Johnson hotel under its wing. Though the luxurious touches of The Chelsea Tower rooms do not extend to its Annex, described by the property as "retro-motel style accommodations," the price point is markedly lower than the main hotel. And guests can partake of the same glamorous lounges, pools, restaurants, beach club and beach service as guests of its more elegant Atlantic City sister next door.
Highlights
- Outdoor heated saltwater pool and weekday access to seasonal rooftop pool
- Two restaurants and several nightlife venues
- Boardwalk access to quickly reach restaurants, casinos and shopping
- Spa offers massage and body treatments
- Bicycle rentals and complimentary 24-hour fitness center
Rooms
Cost-conscious rooms deliver TVs with On-Demand service and iPod docking stations at the bedside. (No Wi-Fi here.) Bathrooms at the Annex at The Chelsea stay true to the retro vibe with original tile and vintage fixtures. Most rooms have balconies overlooking the saltwater pool. Designed as the hotel's social wing, connecting rooms and suites at The Annex offer group-friendly configurations. Order door-to-door food delivery from Teplitzky's, the classic diner downstairs.
Features
Early birds at this surprising Atlantic City motel can rent bicycles or a private cabana on the beach (available first-come, first serve). Beach service, also first-come first serve, includes towels, lounge chairs and sun umbrellas with private set-up. Weekday guests should check out The Cabana Club at The Annex Chelsea, a seasonal outdoor pool with bar, cabanas and an after-dark social scene. Or, venture out and reach the bustling, Old Havana-themed shops and restaurants of Atlantic City's The Quarter at Tropicana in minutes on foot. Valet parking is available (fees apply).

Good stay
Stay in this hotel is quite good because the place is near the boardwalk. Room is good except that ther's no small ref where you can find it in any other hotel and also for the faulty cold shower handle which don't turn on the cold water. I called up and complain about this and after a few minutes the maintenance came and fix it. I wished that they have fix it before another will come in. Overall place is good if you are on a budget and its clean.

Good room for our guests. We couldn't find an ice machine and there was no full length mirror. But otherwise all was nice.

NOT GOOD
Our room had obviously had someone vomit in it the night before or morning of. It reeked of vomit! The front desk staff was rude and not helpful about the situation. They should not have put guests in this room until the situation was resolved. The room in general was also not cleaned very well at all. I have stayed in supposedly lesser quality hotels in AC that were much cleaner! I would never stay here again and wold not recommend this hotel at all.

Not Bad Overall
The hotel overall was not too bad. The only pool we could swim in without paying for spa access was an outdoor pool which was annoying. However unlike our friends who stayed at Harrahs we enjoyed being on the boardwalk. We wouldn't stay here again because I think it would be worth it to pay a little more to be at a casino or at least a place with an indoor pool.

Friday night feb 15th
I thought the hotel was adorable and clean and the staff had great personalities. The amenities are the only thing I wasn't too pleased with, online it said they have iPod docks in the room so I didn't bring mine but then when I called to the front desk they said they were reserved for guests at The Chelsea. Not a big deal just a tad annoying, and also it took forever to find the ice machine which was broken or not turned on so we had to go to the restaurant. Everything was wonderful overall and I would return for another stay, maybe try out The Chelsea this time but the rates at the annex were great.

The overall stay wasn't bad but have stayed at better hotels in AC for a cheaper rate. Maintenance couldn't program or fix our tv but they did waive our valet fee. (Which by the way should be included in the stay.)
