Good Hotel

Overall, I thought Wyndham Skyline Hotel in Atlantic City was an excellent place to stay. I really liked the large rooms that have kitchens, dining area, living room, large bedrooms and bathrooms and a huge balcony that I could see the Atlantic ocean and Atlantic City from. I also thought the short walk to the boardwalk was safe and easy. On the downside, the other reviews are correct about the extremely slow elevators. Also, vending machines are only on the 6th floor and there is not easy (or really safe feeling) access to a convenience store or grocery store, so bring food and drinks with you for the room (there is a large refrigerator and freezer). I thought the hotel staff was just okay, nobody was overally helpful, but nice enough. There is no restaurant in this hotel. Finally, I thought the pool was terribly small and bathwater warm on hot days when you want to cool down.

Take a quick taxi to the outlet stores and/or mall on the pier across from Caesar's... definitely good shopping at both locations!

Bad experience

This is unbelievable. We booked and paid in full for a deluxe room at Atlantic city Wyndham Skytower for 13 nights over 6 weeks before our vocation. Called three times before our arrival, first time 4 weeks before arrival, than 2 weeks, than 6 hours before arrival. We had a simple specific request, to place us in the middle of the building away from roof (ac noise) or garage (car parking) noise. We also told the receptionist about our late 10pm arrival. Needles to say, what we arrived at 10pm and were told because we arrived that late we only have a room three floors above the roof on the 9th floor. And we couldn’t get an upgrade because our booking is for a long period (for two weeks). This is our second stay at the place. Both times we stayed for about two weeks. We also couldn’t get any refund or credit for car parking for this inconvenience. In this economy and a room occupancy percentage rate this customer service is unbelievable. The only thing we got was a standard apology from a clerk: “We are sorry, but there is nothing we can do about that “. The room safe was locked. Had to call front desk to have it unlocked. The coffeemaker wasn’t working. It was never replaced. At the time of arrival we were informed what because they are staying for two weeks we are entitled for one full room cleaning and booking clerk scheduled a specific time cleaning appointment. At our surprise a day before cleaning we received a couple of calls from front desk asking us to schedule the cleaning appointment. After scheduling the appointment for a second time, we left the room the next day, left some tips on the table. When we returned, the room wasn’t touched. We called the front desk, they said we weren’t in the room, the housekeeper couldn’t enter the room or didn’t have permission to enter the room. What kind of place is that where you need to be present in the room during cleaning which take 1.5h (time quoted by front desk). The building tests their fire alarm system every week on Saturday morning between 7-8am. And that’s after Friday night nightlife! They have a very loud speaker next to smoke. First week we were waken up with loud repeating (every 7-10sek) message saying what emergency system has been activated. After continuing for 15minutes the next message was to evacuate the building, some people were walking the stairs from 30th floor just to be told on the 6th floor by some worker, not by their emergency system what they can come back to the room. SAME THING HAPPENED ON THE SAME DAY THE NEXT WEEK!!!! There are only three elevators in the building and they are pretty slow. Forget about using an elevator till about noon if you’re staying on the lower floors. Building staff are using their elevator control keys. They will just bypass your floor. I was waiting for 15 minutes and only way was able to get out was when bell person stopped on our floor and loaded a cart.

Last Min Vaca-the Impossible is POSSIBLE

I've had a not-so-great summer. I basically quit my jobs to go to Tennessee to care for my terminal father...he passed away sooner than expected. My kids, my husband and I spent almost all of July cleaning and taking care of run-down property, mowing, funeral planning, raising money for expenses...lots of family drama, etc. All that being said, upon returning to Pennsylvania, I wanted to get away for a couple of days...spend some quality time with the family and just chillax. After spending hours on the computer trying to get an affordable 'deal' - which is basically unheard of both IN SEASON and LAST MINUTE, [...] I never dreamed that Atlantic City would be a good place to take children, but it worked out well, especially since we had no desire to gamble and really just wanted to spend a couple of 'no frills' days on the beach. It was only a 2-day getaway, but so worth it and perfectly timed. The good stuff...Nice "roomy" rooms. We got a one bedroom suite. Really cool bathroom and all the smell-good essentials from Bath & Bodyworks. LOVED that the balcony was off the bedroom. Nice view from 25th floor. Eat-in kitchen was perfect. Beds super-comfy!ONLY negatives were (1) slow elevators and (2) the maid/housekeeper never showed up. It's just nice to come back from a long day at the beach to a freshly made bed and new towels. Luckily, I'm not a princess-y type who requires that kind of thing. Just saying it would have been NICE.All in all, we were very pleased with our mini-vaca and will try to go back to the shore in September, when it's 'off season' - [...]Melanie NiblickLimerick, PA

Great Hotel!

The Wyndham Skyline Hotel was a great place to stay! The staff was very friendly and helpful, the suite was spacious and clean, and the amenities (pool, activities lounge, computer room, arcade, laundry, and fitness center) were all very well maintained and operated. If there's a knock against the place, it would only be that it could use a little updating and provide a dining option inside the building. Some people may be turned off by the location because you'd have to drive or take the Jitney to the shopping district or the neighborhood is a bit depressed looking, but the location was good for me because it was next door to the Taj Mahal and Resorts, a short walk to the boardwalk and a number of restaurants and bars. The balcony view of the sunset was awesome too!

Sightseeing tip: In Hotel

Since the Skyline has a full kitchen, it would be a good idea to do a little shopping before checking in. Get the basics like water, other drinks, snacks, etc. and depending on how long you stay, you might want to bring enough to make a meal or two to save from eating out. The hotels charge a luxury tax on top of the 7% state tax so be aware. I'd also plan to do one or two of the Skyline's activities like Karaoke, making ice cream sundaes or whatever...the staff is real cool and the other hotel guests seem to be friendly in general. This is a family-oriented, kid-friendly environment, not a party hotel! Although the rooms are big enough to throw a party in. ;)

Nice room but....

We went to Atlantic City for a family girls weekend to see the sights and to enjoy the shops and restaurants on the board walk. This hotel was a block away from the board walk, a good location for easy access. The room itself was very nice, it was roomy and the king size bed was very comfortable. However, the pool is VERY small, the picture on their website I felt was very misleading. Someone hired a good photographer who was able to capture the elution of a bigger, cleaner, newer pool. Also, trying to get up and down from your room could take a long time. They have three small elevators, only two of which are for guests, the third was used mainly for luggage. At one point on Sunday afternoon I was waiting in the lobby with my sister and got tired of waiting for an elevator with room to squeeze onto it so I decided to take the stairs since I needed to stop on level 5 to get something from my car. After getting something from my car and finishing my climb up to level 18 (the lowest level with a view of the ocean) I still managed to beat my sister to our room by a couple minutes. After that we decided to use the stairs the rest of the day until Monday when the elevator traffic slowed down. The room service could have been a lot better. We never received the extra towels we requested (even though they called the room three time to ask if we had received them yet and when we said no they assured us someone would be there shortly). Also, Sunday evening the lockbox battery died when we were locking it up so we could go out to dinner. The repair man came up to look at it and confirmed that the battery died and he left to get something to repair it. After waiting an hour and a half he still never showed back up so we decided to just leave our valuables unlocked so that we could finally eat. When getting on the elevators we ran into the repair man who was heading up to a higher floor and I'm pretty sure he had forgotten all about us. If you want a nice hotel room close to the board walk and you don't care about the amenities and you don't plan on going to and from your room very often during your stay then this could be the hotel your looking for.

This place is a capital DUMP!

This place was a nightmare! The first room they gave us smelled so strongly of rotten fish that the bellman complained. The place is totally run down, the staff is rude and unfriendly, and none of the amenities were functioning as advertised. Another deplorable feature is that they attempt to sell timeshare units in the building during your entire stay, and they don't take no for an answer. And last but not least, the valet returned my car with a flat tire which they are refusing to pay for. They also have a 10:00 AM checkout time, which is completely ridiculous, especially since you can't chek-in until 4! I can't say anything positive about this monstrosity, spend the extra $ and stay at Caesar's!

Nice stay

The Wyndham us a very nice, clean hotel. I would recommend it to anyone who us not strictly visiting Atlantic City for the casinos. Nice place to stay with friends as the rooms are pretty spacious and come with a full kitchen. The pool gets very crowded on the weekends, but that is expected. Also, while I didn't mind waiting for the elevator it does get extremely crowded, but that didn't ruin our stay.

Excellent Choice

My husband and I booked our room after reading several reviews on-line of several different hotels. We picked the Skyline Tower because it was the cheapest and received decent reviews. I was a little bit anxious because I am very leary of hotel rooms and their cleanliness. Upon checking in (which we waited in line but it wasn't too long and we were able to check in early) we went up to our room which was on the 25th floor. It was amazing, how clean our room was. The room had a kitchenette, a seperate living room, bedroom and bathroom and balcony. The room also had 2 flat screen televisions. I was totally at ease staying at the Wyndham. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking to stay in Atlantic City. It was a short walk to the boardwalk and a short taxi ride to the Borgata (where we were seeing a show) The only negatives were the elevators were very small and slow and there was not complimentary coffee in the AM. They sold coffee for $2 a cup which we didn't feel like spending. I would definitely stay at the Skyline Tower again in the future.
