A Family Affair

We are from Florida a have not been in Atlantic City in 15 years. We were here with my parents, sister and brother-in-law. It was very nice to see that Atlantic City has moved forward to clean things up and make it much more family oriented than having urban blight. They have created a new outlet shopping center off of the Boardwalk and are basically rebuilding the city. On the Boardwalk are two Steel Piers - one with amusements and games for kids and the older Steel Pier has been renovated with wonderful restaurants overlooking the ocean and very nice shops. Also, if you have a AAA card and give it at the Steel Pier front desk - you will receive a discount coupon book for the restaurants and shops. The Boardwalk was very safe and a lot of fun. The Showboat was nice enough for a 3-day stay. The services at the hotel were fine and Croupiers and Pit Bosses were friendly and nice. The casino is on one level and easy to move around. The rooms were fine and very clean. The food in the hotel was good, not great but adequate. As for a few minor issues -- Showboat could use a few more moderate restaurants; they need a much larger pool and jacuzzi as you could not get in the pool because of all of the children; the exercise rooms and suana(not working) and steam rooms needs to have someone maintaining them on a regular basis. As an example, I discovered the towels in a big brown box by the front door rather than placed in the steam area. Overall, we had a good time and the place is fine for a few nights and was most reasonable.

Dining, Shopping and Entertainment all along the Boardwalk area. The hotel is on the northend of the Boardwalk - you can use the free shuttle (a bit disorganized on scheduling) to the other hotels or take your car and ask about validation.

because showboat is on the boardwalk, there is dining, shopping and all right at your feet. i would recommend sneakers for walking because showboat is on the end so if your interested in walking the whole boardwalk from showboat to other end its a good 15/20 min walk.

Great place to stay.

Our stay at the Showboat was very very nice. We did not use the pool but the hotel was very clean. Very convenient for eating and we had a great time at the casino. Again we were very satisfied with the room and the friendly staff.

Very Family Friendly

It was very customer friendly. From check in to check out, everyone on staff was efficient and friendly. I liked the bathroom because it had a separate area for the toilet. Our room was by the elevator, and the elevator car was making a grinding noise. Not enough to keep us up, but it was a bit annoying. Beach accomodations were good, nice not to have to pay for going on the beach. The shuttle was great...all in all a good trip. We had a great time, and hope to come back soon.

Okay

for the price this hotel is fine. It's location is at the end of the boardwalk so depending on what you're going for it may or may not be so good. The hallway carpets were filthy which took away from it. However the room itself was fine. I would stay there again.

Fun Mardi Gras Atmosphere

We enjoyed the colorful and fun party atmosphere of the Showboat. The casino floor had lots of slot and game choices, although they seemed tight--we never got a machine to let us play on very long. Its more fun if there's a little more give and take with the machines. The room was wonderful and ready for us when we arrived. It was clean and comfortable, nicely decorated and good amenities. I happened to be on crutches (not a planned event for this trip) so the soaking tub felt real nice on my swollen foot. Complimentary wheel chairs were also a nice option for me (or scooter rental if needed) and handicapped accessibility was very good. The cafes had good breakfast options and the House of Blues was good for a casual dinner. We were disappointed that the steak restaurant was not open during our stay so we went to Gallagher's in another casino. All in all the stay was a fun experience. The shuttle service between the Harrah's resorts was was a big plus and the boardwalk was very impressive.

Try as many different restaurants as possible--there are so many options for good steaks and ethnic selections. For a great hamburger, try the Burger place at the Taj Mahal--expensive, (just the burger is $10) but big and tasty>

Great Hotel in Atlantic City

The Showboat was very comfortable and affordable. The room had a king size bed, a work desk, table, couch, and end tables. I liked the marble floors in the bathroom, the his and her sinks, and sepearte toilet area. The casino was more layed back than most we visited. Its only a block from th Taj Mahal and right on the Boardwalk.
