Is House Keeping Extra?????

Got down to AC, checked in, no problem. Dumped off the bags, noticed that other than the comfy bed, everything was in rough, dated shape. Went down to the Casino, gambled, had a great time. Came back to the room(first room #1153), to get ready for dinner. As my wife closed the bathroom door, SHE NOTICED THERE WAS A PAIR OF LADIES UNDERWEAR HANGING ON THE BACK OF THE DOOR!!!! We figured if this wasn't cleaned, what else was there. We haggled with the front desk supervisor to change our room and give us a little something for the pain and suffering, I guess that was worth a new room and $25!! Get to the new room and noticed there were only 2 bath towels. You should get 4, especially if you have someone that has long hair. So the next day passes, we get back to our new room(#1467) around 1 AM. Bed is not made and there was never an attempt to clean this room at all. Made an attempt to talk to the front desk about this and we were brushed away with "please talk to House Keeping about this". I wanted some of the rate discounted since I wasn't given a full service for what we paid. Also, the "Gold Club" comps and service are the lowest I have seen anywhere. For the amount of gambling we did over the 2 days, we got about 1/4 as we would have at Foxwoods or Mohegan, or at least what the Tropicana offered in AC.

Nice stay for one of the more reasonably priced hotels in AC

Hotel was very nice for the price. Showboat was one of the more "reasonably" priced hotels in AC on a weekend night. I was very satisfied with the decor and cleanliness of the room (no flat screen TV - but I wasn't there to watch TV). Came to town to see the Arctic Monkeys playing at the House of Blues(inside the Showboat Hotel) so this was super convenient. We wanted to do a quick trip on the cheap and this worked out beautifully.

If you want to get some tasty food for a reasonable price in AC, go to Johnny Rockets..also inside the hotel. The chili is outstanding.

Meh.

It was OK. The location is great. You have plenty of night life, bars and attractions around you. The room itself though left something to be desired. Half the lightbulbs were burned out in my room; the iron was missing; room service came way to early; and when I asked room service to come back at a later time, she said to put the Do Not Disturb tag on the door, I informed her I didn't have one. She just shrugged and walked away. I had to bounce around on the phone service prompts to find someone to get me one.

Talk to Management not by phone either in person.

This was our frist trip to Atlantic City. The Showboat has a great price and is on the boardwalk. The Hotel itself i a little older but for the price of your room compared to the others what do u expect. When we arrived the vallet guy was awesome in assisting us, I would recommend vallet parking rather than selfparking it is $10.00 but it was a 1 time fee for our whole stay. It beat trying to get the luggage out of the car too Bellhop does it all right there. when we checked into the room the legs on the furniture are scared from being hit with a vacum and the door frame was scarred also we stayed in a handicap room so figured it was from wheelchairs, well there were some spots on one of the beds so we called down to have new bedding brought up. The guy brought it up put it on the spotted bedding and said ok, I was like ah no you can take these with you then we made up our own bed..not a big deal just unusual, the next day we walked all day it was beautiful we came back to our room and maid service had been there our beds were made and towels changed. When I got up in the morning I was a little disappointed to find no toilet paper though. How do you service a room and not put toilet paper? ok to shorten the rest of the story when bell hop came to get our luggage we realized why the furniture and doorway was scuffed up he hit everything with the cart and laid our suitcase longways across and tried getting it out the door by repeatedly pushing into the door not kidding like 6 times we thought he was gonna break the whhels off. Then I realized why the reviews say some of the things they say. It is not the hotel that is bad it is some of the staff that is making it bad. We went to the front desk and asked to talk to management I am deaf by the way, the lady says I will call and u can talk to them on the phine, huh r u kidding me?? I said that wont do me much good will it being I cant hear.. She then said a hold on. I told her I wanted to see management. After about 20 mins of waiting management came down. I dont think management was notified as soon as we put in the request I think some of the ladies behind the desk help cover up some of the complaints. Make sure you see management do not talk to them on the phone. When we met with them and told them all the small stuff they were wonderful and said they were not contacted by phone. they also said thanks for letting them know what was happening, they gave us some comps also. It is the staff that is makeing the bad reviews about this hotel for the price and the location I will stay there again but I will not allow the staff to ruin my trip. I will talk with management at first problem instead of last. I will make sure I see them in person and not over the phone as I dont believe it is really them u r talking to over the phone.

Shopping tip: Long walk from hotel

You need at least 2 days to do the shopping!! and dont go off the Boardwalk. Do Not go out the front of your Hotel and walk down the streets. It is not safe or a good neighborhood.

Not Impressed

Booked this hotel for a weekend getaway with my husband and chose it due to the reasonable price and proximity to Trump's club Casbah. Check in was fast, which was surprising because we arrived right at check in time. The hallways and rooms had a musty cigarette smell, even though we requested a non smoking room. The furniture in the room was old and you can tell it is in need of an upgrade but the overall size of the room was good and it was clean enough. There was a door that must have connected to the room next to it at some point that was blocked off, a little weird, but not that big a deal. Even though we stayed there in October, it was an unseasonably warm day and the air conditioning in the room didn't seem to be working right. We had it set as low as it went and only semi cool air kept blowing out of the vents. We are a couple in our late 20's and found that the crowd in this hotel was older, much older. We didn't really spend much time there so we really liked the fact that it connected to Trump Taj Mahal from the inside. Showboat is located on the further north end of the boardwalk so it is quite a walk to the opposite end where the Caesars mall and outlet stores are located. Room service was fast and the food was pretty good as was the food at the Mansion Cafe. The buffet within the hotel was extemely over priced for brunch! Overall, we were not impressed, but for the price, it served its purpose. We will however, most likely not be return guests.
