Rodeway Inn By the Bay

This is the worst palce I have evry seen, the room was not clean, i actually felt dirty taking a shower the bathroom was so filthy! i actually believe that this is a place that Johns take their hired dates and i had a knot in my stomach everytime we had to go back to the room with our 3 kids. Please if you have kids steer clear of this place, I was so unhappy here it ruined the vacation and they wont refund you your money!

When we first pulled up the hotel looked nothing like the website, it was more like 10 miles away from the boardwalk instead of 2.9 miles like the website stated. There was no internet access, no drink machines, the refridgerator did not cool well, the pool was filled in with dirt, and the rooms were very out dated. The staff was very unfriendly, the manager allowed his young son to drive around the parking lot like it was a race track and almost hit our SUV in the parking spot. The cleaning staff was informed the rooms which we had did not need to be cleaned that morning and after we went to the boardwalk the cleaning staff went on in our rooms anyway.

It took me a while to decide that the title of this review was truthful, seeing as how I have been in a couple of sketchy hostels in my time, but this is the absolute worst. After the $16 cab ride from the Atlantic City strip (yes, only 3 miles away...), I wandered to the front desk. The lobby wasn't open, instead the manager was checking in people through a window crack into his bedroom which was attached. It was late, I understand, but it was also February. This should have been enough for us to turn away but I really didn't want to pay the cab fair back to an unknown location when we had already made reservations. While we were checking in a guy was walking back and forth behind us cursing at the window. It turns out the manager had taken his credit card, lost it, and claimed he didn't have it. After he gave us our keys, the manager had finally stumbled across the man's credit card and returned it. Going into our room, first impression were that it was smelly and the mini-fridge compressor was broken and making rhythmic noises. Pulling off the sheets, there were burn holes in the blanket and instead of using a fitted sheet, another flat sheet was just placed over the 3-inch mattress which was covered in plastic. After realizing that the TV didn't work, we decided to just call it a day and go to sleep. But here was the absolute worst part, it quickly became apparent that THERE WAS NO HEAT! So instead, we slept on the springy 3 inch mattress in all of our clothes. Unfortunately, we had reserved two nights instead of one. In the morning, we went to the front desk and asked for a refund for the second night. The manager, who understood English just fine the night before was having quite a difficult time understanding us in the morning. Eventually, he told us that there are no refunds and to take it up with the parent company, 'Choice Hotels'. Rather than stay there another night, we decided to just cut our vacation short. I have now logged a formal complaint with Choice Hotels and, depending on how that goes, may also file some sort of complaint with the state of New Jersey since I am pretty sure that the heat has to be working in a legal hotel room.

The place is nicely located and has a beautiful appearance. Parking was readily available and the price very affordable.The room was clean and neat and the waterfront view excellent. Cable and a flat TV would be a great improvement. I would also recommend bigger pillows, newer and better sheet covers for the bed.

I SLEPT WHILE I WAS THERE..BUT WHAT KILLED ME THE MOST WAS..THAT..THE T.V. DIDNT WORK AT ALL..THE SHEETS HAD BURN HOLES IN THEM..AND THE OWNER WAS VERY SCARED OF A BLACK MAN WIT DREADLOCS..HE ACTUALLY SHUNNED ME OFF WHILE TRYIN TO TAKE CARE OF MY BILL AND RETURN MY ROOM KEY!

it was horrible.. they lie on their website there is no pool when i went to call the operator there was a message that said "DO NOT DISTURB" what kind of service is that???? there was no shampoo or nothing in there. we had to go buy all our own stuff...i would not recommend this hotel to no one.

If you really just need a place to sleep, and do not care about comfort you are good to go. I would never bring anyone I care about to this place; it is nasty. The staff is friendly when they are in the mode to speak English; the ability to speak English disappears when you are complaining.

this hotel did not have anything that they possblie promis... No POOL , NOT A GOOD OCEAN VIEW , SMALL BATHROOM ... BAD WILL NEVER GO TO THIS HOTEL AT ALL....

This hotel was definitely over priced for what you got. Of course everything is expensive in AC, but for $200 for one night...it was not worth it except to party it up and not sleep. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for the best experience in AC. However, if you and a bunch a friends want to get away for the night and only need a plasce to cash...then this fits in to your crazy story later on.

Hotel was not very clean. We had two rooms and one of the rooms didn't have sheets on the bed. The continental breakfast was a joke. 1st morning @ 8:00 a.m. guests were asked to knock on room #8 to get coffee. 2nd morning @ 7:30, guests were asked to knock on room #3 to get someone to open the office for coffee. Packaged rolls were available when the office opened. They had given one of my rooms to another guest whom we knew but who made their own reservations. It all worked out but we had to show we had paid separately. Pool not operational, all vending machines were out of order, broken chair sitting outside of room. A real dump!!
