Top chefs, nightlife and elegant design keep this newbie happening

A more discriminating crowd stays here off of the action-packed Boardwalk at the beautiful Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa. After its 2003 opening as the first new Atlantic City hotel property in 13 years, the five-star Borgata has maintained its popularity. High-quality nightlife, frequent casino upgrades and a focus on memorable food tells the tale. A distinctive interior favors subtle, European flair over loud, Vegas-inspired glitz. Notice plush attention to detail from slot machine footrests to dramatic staircases down to the pool and gardens.

Highlights
  • The Borgata houses the largest poker room in Atlantic City with 85 poker tables and daily tournaments
  • Award-winning Spa Toccare plus salon and men's barbershop
  • The Music Box and Comedy Club attract some of the biggest headline acts in town
  • Signature restaurants with top chef direction including Bobby Flay, Wolfgang Puck and Michael Schulson
Rooms

Spacious rooms at Borgata further distinguish themselves from the standard casino town lodging with classic Italian style, soft lighting, floor-to-ceiling windows, 300-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets, custom-made Sealy plush mattress and oversized glass-enclosed showers with therapeutic showerheads. Suites offer wood foyers and deep soaking tubs for two. Access the Internet from any room (fees apply).

Features

The Boardwalk seems worlds away from this Atlantic City hotel that prefers to create its own tasteful scene through high-end restaurants, renowned talent acts and favored DJs and nightlife venues. Adjacent, The Water Club at Borgata is an upscale boutique hotel-within-a-hotel that opened in June 2008 with additional guest rooms and multiple pools. Self park or leave it to the valet (fees apply).

Spa and Fitness

Determined to provide a restful retreat for savvy spa-goes, Spa Toccare and Immersion was voted the "Best Casino Spa" in the SpaFinder 2010 Readers' Choice Awards. (In-room massages available, too.) In the high-tech Pump Room fitness center, choose an entertaining channel on cardio stations equipped with personal viewing screens.

Located on the casino floor, Borgata Buffet is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and was designed to reflect an old-world Italian feel. Chat with the chefs while they carve BBQ ribs, or create a bowl of pasta on the spot. Hot or cold, simple or exotic, there's something for every craving. And if you have a fetish for freshness, ingredients come straight from local Garden State farms for a salad bar par none using the best of seasonal New Jersey produce. An array of mouth-watering desserts will delight every sweet tooth.

amazing suite but a little overpriced

my friends & i stayed in a suite which was gorgeous & had a great view. it was a bit pricey, but that's how A/C is. orbitz only had 1 king bed suites available but the hotel staff was nice enough to change us to a room w/ 2 queen beds as we were 5 people. overall, the hotel was nice & clean. but we felt that the bouncers at the club were a bit racist. - they didn't seem to like asians too much.

Ate at the Old Homestead Steak House. One of the best steaks we ever had. They even comped us deserts and coffee because the next table had a ceiling drip from the rain. Pricey but well worth the food and service.

Why is this a 5 star hotel?

Everyone I interacted with was professional & courteous. The carpet in my room was dirty. I could hear people in the hallways all night. The add stated that parking was free, but it wasn't. I don't get what all the fuss is about.

Not so.. happy

Was there for a concert. They gave us the wrong room (wanted smoking). I had to talk to 4 people to get it corrected. Their excuse was they have many interns and it was said in a not so polite way. The second room they gave us had missing apparatus on the lamps, the A/C wasnt working properly. The shower had signs of mold on the tiles.

Unbeatable location for the price

The hotel was absolutely drop-dead gorgeous! Everything you could want or need was convenient - no need to leave for anything. So many choices for dining - the Borgata dinner buffet was unbelievable!

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

The jitney (bus service) stopped right outside of the hotel. In a matter of minutes you were on the boardwalk. Careful though - jitney drivers go really fast!

Great place to stay while in A.C.!

The Borgata is a great place to stay while in Atlantic City, especially since there is a lot to do just within the hotel and casino. We're not big gamblers, but we sat on the floor for a while and played the slots and really enjoyed the pool area. The hot tubs were great and the pool was nice as well. I also thought it was great that they had an area outside where you could lay out. The rooms were nice as well and we had a pretty good view of the marina. The bed was very comfy and the shower and bathroom were great! All in all I had a great stay at the Borgata and would stay there again. The only thing that surprised me was the additional $300 security deposit I had to pay upon arrival, but they do credit it back to you once you check out. It should be included in your booking fee here on Orbitz or they should have a message about it since it came as a surprise to me when I check in. I would have liked to known that before checking in.

Great hotel!

The service was great. The staff was very polite. Bobby Flay Steak was one of the best restaurants I have ever gone to. I had the New York strip steak with mushroom mashed potatoes, and the portions were so huge, I wasted most of it because I couldn't fit it in my tummy. The bill was high ($156) for two glasses of wine, two sides, two strip steaks and a shrimp cocktail, but definitely worth it. My room was the Fiore Suite. It was a nice size. The bathroom was HUGE. Almost the size of the rest of the room. When entering the hotel, it seemed like I was in a mall. So many places to shop and eat. The casino was ok. Not great, only because I lost all my money. Oh well, all is still well. I did get the Red Label card. I forgot and left it in a machine overnight, the hotel desk person was able to print me out a new card on the spot. Now I can have my card for my lousy $13 comp dollars I earned. I'm not bitter. I will definitely be going back. It is rare to find a place that treats you so well.

Borgata Stay was OK

I asked for mouthwash and/or shaving cream and was told to buy it at the store. Most hotels will provide this complementary especially 5 stars hotels. It is definitely off the beaten path at AC had to drive to get to boardwalk and pay parking fee at other casinos. Indoor pool only, why? Also a fee to use the gym unless getting a paid spa service, give me a break.
