With a fresh face after a $10 million hotel renovation, this Charlotte Marriott remains a favorite convention and wedding venue amid many downtown attractions. Enjoy the indoor pool and fitness center before a special meal at Savannah Red Restaurant and Wine Bar or a cocktail at Cutter's Cigar Bar.

Dining
Fans flock from throughout the area to Charlotte Marriott City Center for one of the last remaining smoking lounges in Charlotte. Club-style stuffed leather furnishings, a fireplace and a billiards room create a cozy den environment at Cutter's cigar lounge, where guests pair authentic Cuban cigars with a fine brandy, whisky or scotch. A full menu is also available. Over at Savannah Red restaurant, The James Beard Foundation declared the eclectic choices to be "the boldest food in Charlotte." For a lighter meal, peruse the tapas menu at the adjacent wine bar with more than 30 varieties by the glass and 200 by the bottle. Or, catch the game on one of 45 large-screen HDTVs in a casual, smoke-free setting at Champion's Sports Bar and Restaurant.

nicely situated in Uptown

The location couldn't be better; it was in the center of town and lots to do within an easy walking distance. The hotel staff was excellent. They went beyond the call of duty. The room itself was OK; the queen-sized beds were actually full-sized. The lobby was beautiful and comfortable (with free wi-fi). Underground parking was very convenient. Overall, it was a very decent hotel in a great location.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The Capital Grille (one block away) was spectacular. Also, there is a Dunkin' Donuts just a few blocks away which was frequented every morning!

Great location

Attended a concert at Time Warner Arena, this hotel location was excellent and every staff member we encountered was very friendly and helpful. Just wish someone would have told us that we needed a room key to get out of the parking garage the morning we left. Thankfully an employee was a few cars behind us to get us out. Otherwise everything was great!

2 friends meet up in Charlotte

The front desk staff was excellent! Very helpful in directing us to restaurants nearby. Looked up Delta airlines number for me. Granted a late checkout and stored our bags behind the front desk for us until we left for the aiport. Room was in excellent condition - both in luxury and comfort, plus cleanliness. Windows were clean and had a fabulous view from the 18th floor. Restaurant fair - salmon omlette served cold - which we did not expect, but they gave us credit for it. Other area restaurants were better, but it was fine.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

We spent $25 on taxi from airport, but the front desk advised us to take the bus back for $2 each. Great tip! Worked out great. Public busses in Charlotte were great.

Fine Stay in Downtown Charlotte

This hotel is fine. It's not great, and it isn't bad. The location is perfect for downtown, and it the price was much better than the Omni across the street. Pros: Location, friendly staff, comfortable bed. Cons: While it is centrally located, there are bars across the street which are very very very noisy until about 2am nightly. Also, if you are sensitive to smoke, there is a cigar bar in the hotel as soon as you walk in the main hotel entrance. I would stay here again if the price was right.
