Nothing A about this place
Maybe my expectations were too high when we booked this hotel, but honestly I don't know what all the hype is about. The hotel is in a good location, the design is sort of hip (although they maybe try a little too hard). The rooms are small but ok. If you place a down comforter on a hotel bed, you should come up with a better cleaning than regular laundry though. The downs were completely entangled inside the pockets and this comforter would have been replaced in anyone's home already. The hotel bar is supposedly the best in all of Charlotte, although this statement was based on the hotel's own advertisement only. Anyway, with only three guests at the bar, we waited about 10 minutes at a table before approaching the lady who seemed to be working there. After ordering three drinks, we waited another 15 minutes (with two drinks ready on the bar) before going back and being welcomed with what the third order was again. After about another 10 minutes of waiting at the table (and the three drinks waiting on the bar now) we decided to leave. If that wasn't bad enough, after leaving a complaint with the manager, he gave us coupons for free drinks valid for four weeks and starting three days after our leave. Is that just arrogance or still ignorance? Maybe a little less bragging is appropriate for an average place like this. At least the girl at check-in was friendly.

Great modern uptown hotel
With Aloft sitting in the heart of uptown Charlotte - the location can't be beat! You are close to a number of amenties (restaurnts, bars, gyms..etc) that are all within walking distance. The staff seemed extrememly nice and helpful. The room was pretty clean but seemed like it needed some upgrades to the carpet (some torn/pulled up carpet and the door entry.) The elevators were extremely slow as well - it took way too long to arrive at each floor. If you're looking for a convenient hotel in Charlotte with a little modern/urban flare - this is your Go-To hotel!

Good Stay for the Value
My wife and I needed to get away since this was the first year that we did not have our kids at home. The Aloft was perfect for our brief stay and was extremely quiet given the fact that it was Christmas Eve. The Epicentre was closed so the hotel was perfect for what we needed. The staff was awesome.

Charlotte is for Reunions
Stylish, designer hotel
I was in Charlotte to meet up with friends for a mini-reunion and was pleasantly surprised to find the Aloft was one of the more inexpensive options in the Uptown area ($119) for a Friday night. The EpiCentre where it is located is a busy retail and bar/restaurant outdoor mall reminiscent of Universal CityWalk. The hotel has a small elevator up to the lobby on the 5th floor; the looby has the WXYZ Bar, a pool table, and 24hour snack bar. The rooms are fairly large. Showers are nice with adequate water pressure. Large flat-screens with cable. Bliss shampoo and soap are nice. Small coffee maker with coffee and tea. Wall safes are available. Overall a nice Ian Scrager-like experience.

Money-saving tip:

Parking for the hotel is $20 for self-park or $20 for valet (EpiCentre valet with hotel discount). It is $20 each time you come back for self-park, but unlimited exit and entrances for the one $20 payment for valet. That said lots to do, see and eat at the EpiCentre so you may not leave that often but worth it if you need to drive around Charlotte. Valet goes until 1pm on the day of check out and $10 after that 1pm deadline. Also nearby self-parking is $20 per 20 mins on parking decks and $6 for outdoor off-the-beaten-path parking, so the additional $10 may be worth it.

Location!
We loved staying at the aloft in Charlotte. We were in town from Wisconsin for a Panthers game, and the location really was perfect. The Epicenter has everything right there, including restaurants, pubs, clubs, and a CVS. It was very convenient for us not renting a car. The staff was great. Everyone was friendly. I had read reviews commenting on the noise level of the hotel/surroundings, and we had no problems whatsoever with rowdiness or loud people. We will be back!

Great for young couples
Our stay at aloft was perfect, and right within the epicenter. We parked the car and were able to walk everywhere. Our only complaint was lack of iron and ironing board. Not much of a complaint!

Great downtown location.
Rooms were obviously redone, adequate but certainly not awesome. I was given a handicapped access room upon arrival which was ok but the furniture was placed to allow a wheelchair access... Location was great but $200 is a little over the actual value..the lobby is on the 5th floor. .
