Once-historic bank becomes modern Minneapolis luxury

The downtown Westin Minneapolis is a faithful blend of historic significance and modern luxury. Transformed from the Farmers & Mechanics Bank, this Tony four-star hotel retains the original World War II era woodwork, marble staircase and vaulted lobby. Guest rooms are equipped with modern amenities like MP3 players, flat-screen TVs and Internet access (fees apply). Following adventure on the town, the end-of-day rewards here are plenty: an indoor pool cloaked in midnight blue, a dimly lit cocktail lounge and a savory dish or decadent treat at B.A.N.K.

Highlights

  • The penthouse patio boasts panoramic views of the city
  • Original bank vault converted into a wine cellar at B.A.N.K.
  • Partake in a true "no interruption" function in the hotel's vault-secured meeting room
  • Walking distance to Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis Convention Center, Metrodome, Target Center and Hennepin Theatre District

Rooms

All 214 guest rooms at The Westin Minneapolis offer superior comfort. Decorated in sandstone colors blended with creams, whites and bamboo, the atmosphere is refreshingly modern. Featuring the famed Westin Heavenly Bed, all beds are dressed in rich fabrics and include dreamy touches like an ultra-thick pillow top mattress, fluffy down comforter and lots of throw pillows. Rooms at the Westin come complete for business travelers with a spacious work desk, mesh swivel chair and chaise lounge. Request an upgrade for a city or courtyard views or a private balcony.

Features

The Westin Minneapolis keeps indoor and outdoor fitness buffs in mind. Warm up in the hotel's fitness center and heated indoor pool. Golfers are minutes from the Highland Golf Course and Stonebrooke Golf Club. Valet parking is also available for an added fee.

Dining

Located in the lobby, B.A.N.K. offers stylish American dining. The lively open atmosphere is great for people watching across the huge center-stage oval bar and large dining room. Those looking for a quiet escape can take to the more intimate B.A.N.K. lounge for small plates and cocktails.

Classy stay downtown Minneapolis!

Lobby was gorgeous - right upon arrival you know you're staying at a 4-star hotel! The rooms were clean, beds were comfy and the showers were especially awesome. Our only complaint were the concierge dinner & drinks recommendations as well as the fact that the Lincoln town car "taxis" lurking around out front of the hotel are very misleading...dont take one! Way expensive and drivers don't know where they're going. But hotel itself was tops!

Luxurious and Affordable

Stayed at The Westin to catch a show at The Target Center. The staff was amazing, the room, a deluxe city view king was bright, elegant and comfortable. The staff happily gave us a slightly later check out and the experience was overall excellent! Would definitely stay here again.

Great location for a downtown stay

I spent weekend. Rate was good on those days. Great location for anything in downtown. The lobby is mostly the restaurant. Had a very good lunch and breakfast there. Rooms are typical great Westin furnishings. Saturday night had a couple of loud returns by "happy" guests that woke me. I will go back there again when the opportunity occurs.

Great location downtown Minneapolis

We took the light rail to/from the airport for our visit and it was just around the corner from the Nicollet stop - super convenient. We took in a baseball game at Target Field and it was just a 5 minute walk from the hotel: excellent. Love the repurposed old bank & vault turned into a wine cellar. Quiet, clean, comfy. We'll be back!

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Ike's for breakfast or brunch for sure. Lyon's Pub for a drink but food there is boring/uninspired bar food. Try out the Nice Ride bikes to get around. We also walked to Nye's Polonnaise across Hennepin Ave Bridge; a trip but food is spendy. Maybe just stop in for drinks & some live polka music & eat elsewhere.

Really beautiful lobby, very convenient

I didn't make use of any amenities, but I was very impressed with the room - it was clean, comfortable, and stylish. And VERY quiet. I also LOVED the lobby - the hotel was originally a bank, and had been renovated, keeping a lot of nice features (the old vault is now a wine cellar). The lobby area had plenty of comfy seating with free wi-fi, as well as computers and printers available. The hotel is just a few hundred feet from the tram, which goes directly to both MoA and the airport; and its only a couple of blocks from the main downtown restaurant and shopping area. I'll come back.

Nice Place in MPLS

Stayed here during a conference hosted downtown. Room was very clean and comfortable. Wish that the room had free internet, but the business center downstairs was very accessible and had free wifi and printing. Great location, right next to the light-rail, which made it easy to get to and from the airport.

Cub Game at Target

Was in town for a weekend to see the Cubs play the Twins. Hotel was perfect for location - 5 minute walk to the park. Parking was nearby and very reasonable. Lots of nice restaurants, bars, etc. around the hotel. I would stay there again.

ouch... parking and wi fi

Unfortunately, with parking at $30, internet at cost, and a hairy bar of soap found in the shower (told them, nothing done except new soap) tainted my visit. Location is great though.
