Enjoy the suite life in Detroit’s lively Greektown district

The recently renovated Atheneum Suite Hotel is ideally located in the heart of Detroit's lively Greektown entertainment and dining district. Each well-appointed suite features traditional décor with modern Greek flair, fantastic city views, and oversized marble bathrooms with deep soaking tubs or whirlpools. The all-suite hotel sits adjacent to the Greektown Casino, restaurants and nightclubs, and the property is a short walk -- or hotel shuttle ride -- from a variety of other top Detroit attractions.

Highlights
  • Luxurious, all-suite hotel in the midst of Detroit's popular Greektown entertainment and dining district
  • 174 elegant suites of varying sizes, from a charming studio to a two-bedroom home away from home

Rooms

Following a recent multi-million-dollar renovation each of the Atheneum's eight different-size suites guarantees wall-to-wall luxury -- from giant windows overlooking Detroit's awesome skyline to huge marble bathrooms. Every newly furnished suite features a 42-inch LCD television, complimentary Wi-Fi service, and MP3 player connections. Guests can lavish in a host of premium amenities, including a stocked mini bar and 24-hour in-room dining service.

Features

Whether traveling to Detroit for a family vacation, business meeting, or romantic weekend getaway, the Atheneum's guests stay in elegant style. The impressive marble lobby features towering figures from Greek mythology. Ancient tradition gives way to modernity, however, with the range of upscale services available, including a well-equipped fitness center.

While the Atheneum's prime locale puts guests in the midst of some of Detroit's finest cuisine, only steps from the lobby are four distinct dining options: Fishbone's Rhythm Café (New Orleans cuisine), Mosaic (international), Pegasus Taverna (Greek), and Pappy's Sports Bar and Grill.

Great stay for a ballgame...

My first stay at the Athenium, and it was more than I thought it was going to be. Beautiful hotel, great room, comfortable bed, and great restaurants all within walking distance. If you want to watch a baseball or football game in Detroit and don't mind a little walk, this is your place to go. Will always book my rooms at the Athenium from now on.

99% perfect experience!!

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful! Front desk, valet, bar, everyone we encountered during our stay gave exceptional service. Our suite was roomy and peaceful, a home away from home. After two flights, and an unexpected five hour delay in-between flights, we were happy to find the king size bed in our suite was inviting and gave us a comfortable nights sleep. We traveled from Sioux Falls, SD to Detroit for the Eminem/Rihanna Monster Tour concert, the whole trip was a birthday present for my husband. Our stay at The Atheneum added to the great memories of our trip and will be our choice in hotel if we ever visit Detroit again. I do have to mention the two negatives of our stay just to ensure management has a chance to correct the errors for future guests, as I will be recommending the hotel to others. First, minor housekeeping issue, there was a few long, dark hairs on the shower wall, which was mostly only noticed once actually in the shower to use it. Second, after returning to our room from the concert around midnight we ordered pizza from the 24/7 room service menu. We were told our pizza would be up in 30 minutes, but after patiently waiting and calling again once our wait reached one hour, we were told our pizza would be up in a few minutes. When it finally arrived it was undercooked (bottom wasn't golden, cheese wasn't fully melted) and cold. You could tell it most likely was quickly cooked and then left to sit in the box/forgotten about. We were disappointed by this, but being not incredibly hungry and overly tired we didn't plan to eat much of it anyway. All in all, our experience was very favorable and we would most likely not even mention the two minor hiccups of our stay in recommendations to others.

Very close to main entertainment venues (Comerica Park, Ford Field, etc.) Within a short walk of the hotel and worth the experience of walking through the streets of Detroit with pleasure.

Family Tigers game

It is in a great location! Hotel was very clean.Staff was very friendly. For what you get with the room, ie nothing - no breakfast on the weekends, the price was a bit high. Our children tried to take a bath before bed and they ran out of hot water. In the morning there was no hot water. They did tell us they were having a mechanical issue and it did come back on but it delayed our departure.

Great spot in Detroit

I never even knew of this hotel in Detroit, but it was a great place to stay for the wedding I was going to the weekend I was in the city. It's location is great and the room was amazing. It's a great little spot for a couples getaway, so I plan to come back!
