High-rise comfort in happening downtown ‘hood -- outdoor pool included
The Sheraton Baltimore City Center Hotel is a 707-room high-rise that takes pride in its convenient location: The 1st Mariner Arena sits across the street and Inner Harbor's attractions are just blocks away. But there is also something to be said for the interior. The sizable rooms and suites emanate an urban vibe, the event space is seemingly unlimited and the ground level boasts Shula's 2, a casual bar with a knack for savory American cuisine. One more perk: An outdoor rooftop pool -- seasonal, of course.
Highlights
  • Convenient downtown location, three blocks from Inner Harbor and Baltimore Convention Center
  • Seasonal outdoor swimming pool
  • Shula's 2, a casual on-site bar and restaurant that serves contemporary American cuisine
Location

The Sheraton Baltimore City Center Hotel's downtown location works well for business and leisure travel. The Baltimore Convention Center is a short distance away, as are a number of corporate offices. The area also is rife with shops, restaurants, live entertainment and other attractions.

Rooms

Rooms and suites of the Sheraton Baltimore City Center Hotel exhibit a crisp, modern color scheme, with dark duvets and furnishings, light-colored walls and carpets. Spring for a Sheraton Club room for admission to the Club Lounge, a relaxed but upscale gathering space for friends and colleagues, with TV, copy/fax/printer and complimentary office supplies. The food here comes free (continental breakfast in the morning, hors d'oeuvres in the afternoon) and beverages also are offered.

Features

High-speed Internet is available in every room (fees apply).

Guests hit up the seasonal outdoor pool or complimentary fitness center with cardio machines.

Choose from a wide range of meeting and banquet spaces, from the intimate Carroll Room to the grandiose International Ballroom. The hotel can host events for groups of up to 600 people.

Hot room

My heater was stuck on. They cracked the windows but it made no difference. We were extremely hot, noses dried out and felt dehydrated when we got up the next morning. Maintenance issues happen but a better solution than cracking the windows open and and basically saying deal with it would've been nice.

Solid hotel stay

This was my second stay at the Sheraton Baltimore. And I've certainly been happy with my stay. Hotel staff was really friend, and the rooms were nice. The microwave was a little roughed up but otherwise the room was sparkling. It is also in the vicinity of the Power Plant, which is ideal for hanging out in the area. Also, for the price you pay in comparison to other Baltimore Hotels, you definitely get your money's worth for sure.

Club Lounge Nothing Special

Everything was fine except for the club lounge. You have to pay for drinks and the snacks are limited to say the least. Also, eggs do not really qualify as "hot breakfast." Overall a nice stay, but I expected a bit more.

Good overnight weekend spot

I stayed overnight because I was in town for an Oriole's game. It was in walking distance of the stadium, a liquor store, and the aquarium. The hotel had a refrigerator which I found helpful for pre-game beers. Overall, loved it.

Memorial Day Weekend 2013

I have stayed at this property in the past while attending a yearly fire department expo but had since changed to another hotel on Eutaw Street. A few weeks ago I received a special email for a corner room and decided to give the Sheraton another try. The staff is extremly nice, the room was clean, yes you hear sirens 24/7 but thats in any big city, so stop with all the review complaints, plus being in the fire department, it was music to my ears lol. I did not use the pool or the gym this time, but they were both open and readily available. The bar prices were decent and a good place to watch the NBA playoff games with their numerous flat screens. For the price and the location I would definitely stay here again.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Make sure you goto Lexington Market for lunch. The food is as diverse as the people. I have gone there for years and never had a bad meal or any "issues" that some reviewers speak about. It is 2013, not everyone looks the same anymore in America, so go eat and enjoy yourself.
