Sumptuous quarters in a spectacular, Beaux-Arts setting
Housed in the former headquarters of Baltimore & Ohio Railroad (constructed in 1906), the iconic Hotel Monaco Baltimore hotel immerses guests in the splendors of a bygone, Beaux-Arts era. Its sweeping, three-story lobby showcases original marble floors and Tiffany-stained windows, and eight-foot windows adorn each of the lavish guest rooms. The staff is as friendly as the hotel is magnificent -- no pretension here. Guests enjoy evening wine receptions in the grand living room lobby and thoughtful, if quirky, perks. Be sure to have a "companion goldfish" delivered to your room.
Highlights
- Historic, Parker & Thomas-designed building with authentic Beaux-Arts detail
- Prime location, three blocks from Inner Harbor waterfront and a half-mile from Camden Yards
- Twelve-foot ceilings and eight-foot windows in every guest room
Location
The Hotel Monaco Baltimore hotel's location is as pleasant as it is convenient. With the Inner Harbor waterfront just three blocks away, many of downtown's greatest shops, restaurants and attractions are within walking distance.

A subtle but significant green ethic persists throughout the Hotel Monaco Baltimore hotel. Guests notice it in everything from the in-room recycling bins to the low-flow toilets and showers to the paperless checkout service. This hotel welcomes pets of all sizes. Stop by the designated pet concierge for tips on local dog-friendly parks, grooming services and more. Left Fido at home? Ask the staff to deliver a goldfish in a bowl, free of charge.

This hotel was amazing! The staff was all really friendly and super helpful. Unfortunately I missed the wine reception, but it sounds fabulous. We stayed in the Mediterranean Suite and the soaker tub was the perfect addition to the beautiful suite. My boyrfriend arrived before me and asked the conceirge where he could get champagne and roses; the concierge had took care of everything. The only thing that could have made our stay better was quicker room service. We ordered breakfast in the morning and my order arrived in about 45 minutes, but my boyfriend's order got misplaced and didn't arrive for almost an hour and a half. We called to check on it and they had the food sent up shortly after. The restaurant even called to apologize and comped both meals. The little touches really add up in this hotel. Not only is the lobby beautiful, but they had strawberry-lemon infused water you could enjoy in front of the fireplace. The staff even walked a family's dog while they were checking in, gave him some treats and let the kids choose a toy to play with. This is my hotel of choice near the inner harbor. I will definitely check out the other Kimpton hotels.

A sweet suite
Upon entering the building you'll notice the chandelier and the two beautiful staircases which has its own history. Whats confusing though is that the lobby isn't there. There's a desk by the elevators but that wasn't the front desk as we found out. We took the elevator going up and there we found the reception. We came in time for the complimentary wine hour. They have a nice area with a fire place where you can lounge around. We got a suite which was very spacious, comfortable and very beautiful. The bathroom was nice with a hot tub. The bedroom had a view of the city which was a plus too. This hotel was situated in a very nice location, it's just about a few minutes walk from everything. There's lots of place to see and things to do within the vicinity. All the staff we encountered were courteous and very helpful. All in all a very good experience!

Very enjoyable stay... not a fan of the housekeeping staff.
Room was beautiful. Location is perfect. Housekeeping staff needs work. We asked for a late checkout (1pm instead of Noon) and were granted it. At 12:15, housekeeping started knocking on our door and we told them we were busy. They left. At 12:30, they knocked again and since we were in the middle of something, we hesitated to respond so they came in. Would've been nice to have had privacy for our last hour in the hotel. Oh well...

Great hotel but needs better service
This is a wonderful historic building in downtown Baltimore. The bellmen are second to none -- terrific help, service, valet, directions, you name it. The maid service, however, is non-existent, and the Monaco had better step up its staff training if it is to maintain its ordinarily great reputation.

beautiful and comfy but no gym
place is historic and lovely. we were given a quiet corner room on the 14th floor so we could see the harbor and the city pretty well. the room is gorgeous. cons: price, no gym, the air conditioning is VERY loud and came on and off frequently (it was a very hot weekend) but it actually was like having white noise - plus: very comfy bed, duvet and pillows but my husband thought it was too soft. happy hour in the lounge with free wine - very nice before going out. staff very knowlegable about the history. grand ol place

Good, but you get what you pay for
Very stylish, elegant and modern hotel and a great deal for the price. However, little things do not work that well. You are not allowed to check in until after 3pm, even if the hotel has a room available. Walls are thin, and noise travels through rooms quite easily. Our toilet was broken, and our shower stylish but leaked water all over the bathroom when in use. Hotel is farther from the inner harbor than comparable hotels, which is why it is slightly cheaper. Is overall a 3 star hotel service wise, but with 4 star appearances.
