Service is second to none

I've stayed at a bunch of hotels and never experienced the cordial, friendly, warm service like they have at Lord Baltimore. To top it off, the location is prime, the facilities are beautiful, the room is comfortable and clean. By far the best experience I have ever had at a hotel, hands down.

surprises

This is a hotel that is working hard to be better. As a former inspector for Marriott, I found the cleanliness exceptional; however, the folding of one's clothing is a job for a personal maid, not a housekeeper. It had a mild disturbing effect. And the'incident fee'upon check-in was another surprise, as well as the fact that a refund for a smoking deposit (I do not smoke and requested no smoking) or valet parking (for a series of business meetings five blocks away) would take two to ten days.... The renovation is quite lovely, and well managed. This is a lovely old hotel with all the beauty and charm such a place deserves. The protocols need a bit of work.

Historic hotel, wonderful hotel staff

The hotel is a rennovated historic hotel, and it was fun to stay in a hotel that was connected to the city history. Not everything is new, but they did a nice job of updating the rooms. The hotel was not right on the waterfront, but was a few short blocks away and an easy walk to the waterfront activities and restaurants. This is a big city, but it did feel reasonably safe walking back to the hotel. One outstanding feature of the stay was the hotel staff. Everyone I encountered was incredibly friendly and helpful.

Not what we were expecting

This was a weekend trip to take my small grandsons to the National Aquarium and the Port Discovery Kid's Museum. Unfortunately our stay was not the best. Let me first say the bell hop was very professional and pleasant.. The first elevator ride up to our room made tons of noise (kind of scary). When we reached our floor, the pictures had been stripped from the walls. The vending / ice area had a huge part of the ceiling crumbled and water damage (no vending machine). The room was clean but very small. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was small but had only one set of towels, we waited over an hour for more towels. When we called for the nearest vending machine we were told it was in the lower lobby. I used the first elevator and it made awful noise, after I purchased the items I took the second elevator.. oh my I didn't think I was going to make it to my floor. The fourth and fifth elevators had wires sticking out of the lights and were not usable. The next trip down on the elevator... it would not go down to the lobby level so I pressed my room level and went back up. We asked for the bakery that is advertised on their site but it is also under renovation. The hotel is located near a local train station and there was noise and sirens all night. The hotel does not have regular parking so you can opt for valet at $31 or self park about 5 blocks away for $15 (each time you exit the garage, not daily). We left by7AM the next morning and did not make it to the museum, we were all too exhausted and just wanted to go home. It was not a good experience.

Perfect location if going to the Hippodrome

Only three blocks from the Hippodrome. The French Kitchen Restaurant in the hotel was delicious. The hotel is still under renovations so there were a few minor glitches but overall a very good experience. The staff was very accomodating.

Construction?

It appeared that there was some construction going on in the lobby and on the 17th floor (the floor I stayed on). Otherwise, it was very nice. Classic 1920's feel. The building seemed to have a lot of history but the rooms were nicely renovated.
