Great daytime location
Close to the Freedom Trail, National Park Service naval sites and piers, so great for walking and sight-seeing during the day. Very few dining choices at night, though, unless you are willing to walk across the bridge at night - not far, but seemed dicey. Spartan but clean room.

Long walk from hotel
Don't try to drive over the bridge to Boston to eat - you will never find parking. Leave your car and walk over the bridge to great Italian food!

Hot, and not in a good way
We went to Boston for a concert and chose this hotel based on location and price, which was much lower than other area hotels. Now we know why. The hotel is also home to a YMCA and is built of concrete. The air conditioning apparently is not turned on until sometime in May, so although it only made it up to the low 60's, inside it was approaching 90. The hotel smelled of chlorine, and until we finally got a fan at 1 in the morning it was so stifling that we couldn't rest. The front desk staff tries, but isn't great. If you're going to park in the garage, btw, it will cost you $20 unless you get the hotel to stamp your pass - something they don't inform you of. Maybe an okay hotel for young people that are adventurous and on a budget, but otherwise I'd avoid this hotel.

Great Location with cheap parking.
I very much enjoyed staying at the Constitution Inn in the historic Charlestown Navy Yard. The location was great. Walking in that area is generally without traffic.

Friendly Staff - Comfortable Rooms - YMCA Great!
While the location of this property is a trek from the center of Boston, it was still worthy of a good review. I did not have a car, so I was left to rely on taxi cabs - which ran about $10 - $15 per trip - I could have used public transportation, but that too was inconvenient - finally I used a shuttle service to Massachusetts General Hospital which was great. The property itself is nice and the room was comfortable - the staff was incredible and everyone seemed to enjoy their jobs - I really enjoyed having access to the YMCA - terrific amenity for those who like a good work out!

Interesting Choice
The Constitution Inn is hard to rate. I gave it 3 stars because it is definitely not your ordinary hotel, has few amenities and is dated. But that said, for the money, it is clean, the beds and pillows are comfortable, it provides a mini frig and microwave in some rooms and a full kitchen in others, and is in a safe and interesting area. The Constitution Inn is actually the top 2 floors of a YMCA, with Y residents occupying the bottom floors. As a guest here you may use the Y facilities, but I did not, so cannot speak to that. The rooms were incredibly hot (weather outside in teens) with no heat on, requiring open windows and a fan for comfort. Even then, I had to sleep without covers! The room is old, with concrete brick walls and dated carpeting, but quite sizeable. The bathroom is small, has a miniscule sink and provides no place for toiletries, but is clean and serviceable. Because people can cook in their rooms, we had a late night fire alarm requiring evacuation to the cold and wind for over 30 minutes (someone had burnt something and the alarm went off). The location in the Charlestown Navy Yard is safe and right on the Freedom Trail, but not easily accessible to mass transit, except for the Harbor Water Shuttle to the Boston Waterfront. For a family wanting a cheap place to stay when visiting Boston it might serve well. I stayed here as my daughter had an interview at the MGH Health Professions Program that is located about 2 blocks away, but I will probably not stay here again.

Wont go back
Got there early and room was "ready", got to our room and people were working in there with ceiling dust all over the beds, a closet door on the bed so we went back down to get a new room and the front desk clerk told us or next room was ready and he was sorry we got to our room and people were also working in our room, and we had to wait maybe an hour to actually leave our room and do what we had to do. the location was ok, parking was a little walks away.

Great hotel
Great hotel for what we needed. Location is walking distance to Boston or just a water taxi ride across the river. Lovely location quiet and out of the way but also has some super resturants close by. This hotel is not fancy just a top hotel that provided us with an excellent stay.

Low key couple time
Good low key getaway
Very low key, quiet, nice hotel staff, area looked very historic, convenient for parking. Room a little out dated, hallway a little stale. I wish I had known it was park of the YMCA, I could have packed according to enjoy amenities like indoor pool and basketball court.

One night layover for a gym junky
I am a gym junky who needed a place to stay after a bus ride to Boston and an early flight out the next morning. If you are looking for a cheap place to crash with all of the basic ameneties guaranteed, plus a gym right downstairs to get your travel tensions out, this is the place for you. Unfortunately, the cheap hotel price isn't necessarily worth being a ten minute cab ride from the airport, because cabs are SO expensive in Boston! For my travel needs, if I could do it again, I would probably stay at a slightly more expensive hotel closer to the airport to avoid a $25 cab ride one way.
