So disappointed!
I stayed here a few years ago and thought it was wonderful. Unfortunately, that was not the case this time. My Saturday night reservation requested a rollaway bed since my son was coming up from college to join my daughter and I for a weekend in the city. I called on Thursday to check on the reservation and the rollaway request and was told we were all set. When we checked in I was told the rollaway bed would be in the room. When it wasn't, the bellman said it would be brought up by 8:00 pm. When we returned from dinner there still wasn't a rollaway bed. At 8:40 pm, I called the front desk and was told that housekeeping would bring it right up. At 9:10 pm, I received a phone call that said they were sorry but they did not have any more roll away beds, could they make up a bed on the floor. We would not have checked into a room with only one bed and we did not book a five star hotel to sleep on the floor. We left the hotel at 10:00 pm and drove 20 minutes to a hotel because all of the hotels in the city were full. Not at all what I would expect from a five star hotel. Very disappointed and it ruined our plans for a weekend in Boston.

Fancy Living
We had a really great stay at the Fairmont. The room was on the ground floor and didn't really have a view (just some shrubbery) but the room was extremely comfortable and luxurious. Bathroom was nice and big and the room was kept very clean and turned down twice a day. The in room coffee was really good as well. Small annoyances. The fridge was fully stocked with expensive minibar stuff, but that meant there wasn't much room for our leftovers. Also there was no microwave. Sadly there was no pool, but it didn't seem like many hotels in downtown Boston had pools. Also, in order to use the internet for free (instead of the $15 a day change), you had to sign up for their free rewards program. The online registration didn't work from my iPad and I got annoyed, but I was able to just fill out a tiny form at the front desk and there were no problems. I didn't get charged for the internet. And finally, the parking at the hotel is valet only, which means it's pricey (and they took a long time to bring our car around the one time we did it). For the remainder of our trip we paid half as much and parked around the corner in an open public lot. Overall I would recommend this hotel, just be on the lookout for cheaper parking.

Not Fair
It is a 5-star hotel, in Boston, so as a corollary it is quite expensive. Yet, none of the amenities that clients may expect based on what they pay, is included Therefore, clients are constantly charged for this and that. For the breakfast, wifi, etc, even for having a supposed view on the harbor that actually is not a view in reason of the orientation of the hotel Rooms are very nice, 5-star, yet tooth paste and floss are not offered. Toilet paper is of very mediocre quality. Overall, there are at least a couple of other hotels in Boston right on the shore, with a real view which probably perform better than this
