Built in 1897, the historic Boston Hotel Buckminster was one of the first hotels built in the Boston area. The hotel was designed by renowned architect Stanford White, who also designed the Boston Public Library as well as many of the elegant Back Bay townhouses on Beacon Street. The hotel is located on the triangular intersection of Beacon Street and Brookline Avenue in Boston's Kenmore Square. Today the Boston Hotel Buckminster stands as the "Heart of Kenmore Square", offering 116 guest rooms and suites as Boston's only true Budget Hotel. The Boston Hotel Buckminster's location is second to none in the City of Boston, as it is the closest hotel to both Fenway Park and Boston University. The hotel serves visitors to the Back Bay and Downtown Boston areas year round and provides easy access to the Kenmore Station on Boston's Subway System and is within a short walk to the vast majority of Boston's attractions. Parking is available for a fee.

Great Choice, value more than money you spend

Very Good hotel! Situated very suitably. It is 3 minutes to subway. For a traveller without car perfect choice. Room was very clean and it is a sytle of old nice hotel. Staff is friendly. Buckminister is not a luxury hotel, but a very cozy and comfortable one.

relaxed stay

I was in Boston for a conference. The hotel is convenient located to Metro and Bus. Surrounded by Restaurants but still quiet at night. Breakfast good, with low variety. Rooms clean with AC, nice bathroom, unfortunately no room light (ceiling), but only lights on the table(s). Good service at the hotel.

Good stay

The hotel and rooms are clean. The breakfast was good. The hotel is right near the subway so it is very easy to travel to different parts. There are also many bars around the hotel.

Family Trip

The staff was great! Helpful! Hotel was clean! We enjoyed our stay here very much!! Room was very big. WE had to queen beds in one room and a couch, table and TV in another very large room(Rm 604). I would stay here again! We had a great time in Boston. Also used the Old Town Trolley to get around. Easy to get to from airport on the subway. They were great also! I would highly suggest this hotel for a family vacation!!!

Reasonably priced, great location. Room was upgraded to a suite upon arrival. No complaints. Room was clean, bed comfortable, and bathroom spacious. Close to public transportation and easy walking distance to shopping, restaurants, Fenway Park and House of Blues.

Warm Hospitality

I had a wonderful time. The room was a good value for the price but I found it too warm. I like a cool (66 F) room and this one was too warm, so I kept the window open. The continental breakfast was great, with lots of variety and real cream and honey for my hot tea. The hotel was half a block from the subway and was very convenient for trips to the Hynes Convention Center. Overall, I enjoyed the hotel and the staff was wonderful.

Visiting for College Interview

I recently stayed at the Buckminster this weekend for a Grad program interview. The staff was super friendly and I was upgraded to a suite upon my arrival due to a lack of queen rooms. So I can't speak for the regular rooms, but the suite was very nice and comfortable and had a great view of Kenmore square. Location was great - about a 15 minute walk to the Fenway and tons of food options very close by. Definitely worth the money for a short stay for something like an interview and if you are staying longer, the suite was quite comfy.

Weekend Getaway

If you are looking for a clean, nice, central located hotel at reasonable rates then this place is it.. It's an older hotel with smaller sized rooms, ridiculosly small bathtub and shower, and crazy corridors to manuver; it's not a great family hotel either, but.... it has great location to a lot of pubs, bars, food, shopping and of course 100 yards from Fenway... Across the street is the Train and Bus depot and plenty of taxi service in Kenmore as well. Street parking in way of meters and lots areplenty as well. Bottom line; It's a simple clean hotel with small rooms, but the location and downtown pricing more than compensates for the room size. I live just outside Boston and work there daily, but when I stay in the city this place is tops on my short list of trying to get a room. It provides a nice place to base a great city weekend getaway from, and it's also just down the street from BU Campus as well...

Good night out in the City

The hotel is located right next to Fenway Park. Conviniet to go out in the Boston Down Town area, just a few mins of a cap ride. You can walk to restaurants and bars in the area.
