Too much money for a small room
The hotel location seems good, within walking distance to the quarter. But there are a lot of hotels in that area for much less $. The W was too trendy without actually putting effort into room quality. They "upgraded" us to the same room we had booked to start with. The room was small, the great views were obscured by buildings. The couch, the walls and the comforter were all made a material that showed all of the past guests "actives" with smears, splashes and drops apparent on all of them. The stainless steel sink was stained with watermarks. There were not any shampoo or other type of amenities available. The toilet stopped working and no one ever came to fix it. For a $300 room, we had to use the trash can to flush the toilet. At the very least for that amount of money, I expected to be able to sleep through the night, but the walls were so thin that when our neighbors came back at 3 am we could hear every single word they were saying, phones ringing and alarms going off in the morning. There was no peace and quiet in this room. I have stayed in down town New Orleans at least 3 times a year for the last 10 years and this was by far the worst experience for the high end hotels. When I spoke with the staff about these concerns, they offered us point towards another stay. Why would I want points towards staying at a place like this again? And made no attempt to fix any of the issues. Check in took about 30 mins because the staff was gossiping instead of checking people in.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Capdeville was a fabulous dinner in very short walking distance. This place takes comfort food like burgers and mac and cheese to the next level. A must try!

pretty good
room smelt a little smokey....even though there is a no smoking policy. Other than that, everything was good. Valet is pricey at $45/night.

Not worth the money
This hotel is no where near worth the money. The rooms look nothing like what they portray on their website, out dated and very small. Although the staff was very nice I still wouldn't recommend this hotel. There is no parking at this hotel and they charged $46 for one night. The car receipt says "central parking" which leads me to believe that they keep it at a public lot which I could have done myself for much cheaper.

disappointing W experience
It was my first time to stay at W and will be my last. Poor quality of room condition and the size of my room is small than Holiday Inn and Double Tree.

Hotel Average
I satyed at the W in New Orleans and this is NOT like the other W's around the country. The hotel is clean but dark and the rooms need an update. The safe did not work and the charm and feel of luxury were not part of the experience. The front desk clerk mentionee the free car service which would have been great and i sadi i will book it now and she said it was full for the night.... why mention somthing that is a benefit that could not be used because it was booked. I would book another hotel in the future for stay in New Orleans.

Average hotel
Good location, overall average hotel. Disappointed that the gym was closed for renovations. Understandable due to the storm, but wish I had known before I gone down.

New Orleans
The hotel itself was very clean, very trendy and not too far from anything fun to do. This was probably the best shower I've had other than my own house. The things I would work on would be vending machines for bottled water or juice, soda's. You were limited to buying a 5 dollar bottle of water in the room itself. I wandered around and found it cheaper. Upon arriving, we were told they would give us a ride anywhere within 6 miles of the hotel. This was a great option but when we asked for a ride at 1pm, we were told it was being detailed. These would not stop me from coming back to the W, I had a great stay. The staff couldnt have been more helpful.
