Stressed in New Orleans
Needs a facelift
We were pleased with the location..the hotel is very tired and the room was dingy. The hotel elevator kept breaking down and I ended up stuck in the elevator and the emergency phone did not work. When I finally got out, the receptionist told me to calm down. She didn't think that being stuck in an elevator with no air and no way to communicate with anyone was not upsetting. She was unhelpful, they charge for use of the internet...I would not recommend this hotel.

good deal
Most everything was good. My only complaint is that the bathroom was clean but a bit shabby. Sloppy paint job - light near bathtub not working, and when we asked for a new bulb were told the fixture was broken. Also, a very outdated TV set, though it worked fine. But everyone was extremely nice and the bed comfortable and room painted a lovely color and roomy.

Decent but not great
Room was decent in terms of space and bed comfort. The main issue I had was a constant noise at night, like a generator running all night long. I chose not to ask for a room change because the other side of the hotel had rooms facing the street which I didn't think would improve the situation. For a woman traveling alone, not the best location to do any dark-time wondering on your own. Still - the staff was incredibly nice which compensated for some of the less pleasant attributes of the hotel.

Great location - great staff!
Flew in on Fat Tuesday for a 2 night stay. They allowed me to check in early and check out late. I signed up for a regular room and was given a king suite - nice! Staff was wonderfully helpful - especially Dwayne. If I had to be picky I'd say that the lights in the living room were kinda dim for doing any actual reading and the thermostat would not rise above 70 - it was very cold on my last day and the room felt very chilly. Love the decor and the fancy old grandma's house vibe. Would totally go back!

Definitely a bit dated, but the location is wonderful. Close enough to walk everywhere but far enough away from the French quarter that the drunks don't venture out that far.

Second time stay - Again just fine!
This was the second time we stayed here and it was just fine. Our room (510) was located between the elevators and we couldn't hear a thing! Needs some upgrades but definitely not run down! No flat screen, and the only down side was no regular coffee for pod machine, and the handle on the hot water fell off and we had to put it back on. Other than that, good value for New Orleans. We would stay again!

No frills, comfortable historic hotel
Since I arrived early, I left my luggage and the clerk promissed to call me on my cell. Which she did. The hotel is a beautiful classically proportioned building in the business district of the City, not far from canal street. There is an award winning restaurant (miraculously inexpensive) across the street. The single room was comfortable though not too spacious. The shower had plenty of hot water immediately. The bed was quite comfortable and the hotel was quiet. The hotel has a restaurant and bar on the first floor, but they were remodelling it when I was there. However, it is not really designed for the guests but rather for a general public. My stay was quite pleasant and the price was very low since it was a special deal.

Great hotel
This was a great value hotel. The rooms were clean and very large. I got a room for myself and one for my girlfriend and we were both surprised to find that they both had living rooms. The only complaint is that if you are planning to walk to the French quarter and especially the French market it provides exercise that may not be enjoyable for all.

Perfect for business trip combined with vacation
The location of this hotel is really fantastic. It is located conveniently in the central business district, but is a short walk from pretty much everything you would want to do in New Orleans: the French Quarter, the Warehouse District, and superdome. It is also very close to the medical center, which made it ideal for my trip. It is an older hotel and is quite charming, but don't expect more modern amenities like a pool. They have wireless internet for a small cost, but because it is an old building, it can take some finesse to get a signal.
