At The Hotel Modern, European hotelier Klaus Ortlieb brings his signature home-away-from-home sensibility to New Orleans. The 135 comfortable rooms were designed in-house with a modern eclectic aesthetic that mirrors the city's juxtaposition of Old World charm with New World diversity. The newly renovated hotel, located in the Warehouse-Arts District, goes beyond the basics to offer an array of cultural amenities such as thoughtfully curated books in every room. The restaurant - Tivoli & Lee - Modern Southern Food and Drink, features a neighborhood focused, farm-to-table bistro with a heavy emphasis on the freshest local ingredients for their take on local regional southern food. The hotel still offers room service. The cocktail lounge will also feature a rotating menu of drink specials.

Valet parking available for $30 per night plus tax.

$55.00 non-refundable pet cleaning fee will apply for all pets.

The hotel staff were very friendly and very helpful throughout the stay. I enjoyed the breakfast at the restaurant next door. It was a great deal although a little further out then expected, but definitely a more reasonable option compared to others. I would stay here again.

Terrible stay!!!!

The only thing good about this hotel was the complimentary water at the front desk and the fact that it was right in front of the parade route for mardi gras. First off no one out of all three nights came to clean our room and when I called to ask what time does housekeeping come, some lady at the front desk gave me an attitude saying "I wouldn't have that information, what do you want ma'm?" So, me shocked just simply asked if they can send up housekeeping when they can but of course no one came. The room was small, there was no iron or ironing board. The towels leave white lint all over your body and to top it off the restuarant next door is terrible. We waited an hour and a half for dry cold food, and their excuse was Mardi gras was overwhelming. I'm sorry but if this event is the biggest you have all year you should prepare and have a full staff, at least that's what New York does on it's holiday months. Never again!!!! The only thing decent they had was good drinks but then again you can find that anywhere in New Orleans. So I give this hotel 1 star for terrible service and terrible restaurant quality. Don't waste your money!!!

Anniversary getaway

Everyone was just great, I did not think it was in walking distance to the French Quarter like they said but there was a trolley across the street which was a lot of fun to ride.

Staycation

My fiancee and I decided to spend the night in new Orleans even though we live only 45 minutes away. We really enjoyed our night at the modern hotel and how votes it was to all of the local attractions.

New Orleans Stop-over

We had a great time in New Orleans. Although not in the heart of the Jazz, this hotel was a nice walk to the French Quarter. We found some fun places to listen to great jazz. The hotel is also, a stones throw from some great museums and the atmosphere was warm & friendly. The hotel has a lot of character, and the staff was very helpful. It was a little difficult to find, but it is right off the freeway so that made it easy to get in and out of town.

Great Experience Overall

Great experience. The staff was very helpful with recommendations to restaurants and activities. They went above and beyond on personal service. The hotel has a very non-traditional approach to check-in/ check-out procedure. There really isn't a front desk but the staff are always around to answer any questions or help in any way. The one thing I didn't like was that the air conditioning in the room is motion detection activated. So at night while you are still it turns off and can get warm rather quickly. You wake up hot and have to wave an arm or a leg to turn it back on. It is very energy conscious but inefficient cooling system.

Great hotel, great location

Wonderfully comfortable hotel designed on the modern concept - few amenities, small lobby, simple decorations, and good price. Room small, but very comfortable. No coffee, but plenty of snacks and drinks, if you want to pay extra. Located next to WWII Museum and street car outside that can take you down scenic St. Charles St. or directly to Bourbon St.

WWII Museum a must when in NO, but new film and 9/11 exhibit disappointing. Civil War Museum also next door.

Good vaule, but

A great value with great staff, next to WWII museum and public transportation. But be aware of a couple of surprises - no coffe pot in room, no coffee downstairs, and almost $50/night for parking!

Restaurant is excellent. Everything we tried had unique taste and was wonderful. Trolley takes you directly to Bourbon Street for other restaurants.
