Located just one block from the historic French Quarter, the Cotton Exchange Hotel's decor pays tribute to the colorful palettes created by Degas and his fellow Impressionists. In addition to high ceilings and large windows which allow for vast amounts of natural light, all 223 rooms are decorated in vibrant colors, and the walls are hung with reproductions of Impressionist paintings.

A great Jazzfest location!

This was my first trip to New Orleans and the big music festival, Jazzfest. The hotel location was terrific for access to the French Quarter (a short walk across Canal St) and transportation to the festival or anywhere else for that matter. The streetcars are wonderful and very close to the hotel. The room itself was great and the maid service was good. Certainly not a 5 star hotel but the price was great and the location could not have been better. All in all a great deal!

Don't Plan on getting any sleep here

Hotel has large rooms to rent for parties center of all floors and the hotel rooms surround. My night there a school was having a DJ'd party untill 3AM on my floor. Might as well been at the party it was so loud and the DJ every other word was a curse word. Called the front desk 3 times to complain and even the next morning when checking out. All I was told was sorry we did not know they would be that late. They did nothing to make up for this, I paid over $240 for a hotel room and eneded up staying in a teen age dance club. Made a complaint to the hotel website with zero response. Will never stay here again, would get more rest at a $40 motel 6.

Nice location

Although we only planned to visit Tulane University for this visit, I would say this hotel is at a perfect location if we come for fan in New Orleans, especially if to go french quarter. I read some reviews before coming. To my surprise, the room is very clean. I found everything I needed. Air conditioning was operating well. I had a good sleep in the room. The free breakfast helps to save us time for the second day, although it was brief and simple.

Comfortable stay

I was a bit apprehensive when I read a lot of reviews for this hotel but for the price, how bad could it be? I was pleasantly surprised by the staff's helpfulness when our toilet became clogged as well as when we needed to catch a taxi back to the airport. The continental breakfast was the usual fair (cereal, eggs, bagels, waffles with waffle maker) and included in the price of the stay. The maid service was the average you get pretty much anywhere. We received fresh towels every day and our beds were made up. Beds were pretty comfortable. The hotel is located 2 blocks from Bourbon St and is quiet at night. On a side note, my friend and I travel a bit and when we do, we don't stay much in our hotel. We only stay to sleep and shower. If you are looking for a hotel that will cater to more than your basics, you may want to consider paying a bit more for these luxuries. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would come back.
