Jazzfest Fanatic!!

I was originally supposed to come down with friends, but everyone canceled on me at the last minute so I ended up coming alone. I had reservations at another hotel but canceled those and booked The Royal St Charles..I was so glad I did! The hotel is wonderful..and I got a very good deal..the rooms are very clean, well presented.the staff is friendly and helpful and the hotel is located in a perfect walking distance from the French quarter and other attractions..only about 10 minute drive from the festival site..I hated to leave! But they have a mandatory 9.95 amenities package and valet parking is 32$ a nite! Didn't care much for either of those but other than that it's a great place to stay!,

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

You may want to Get there after business hours to find close street parking to avoid the 32$ valet parking or 16$ self parking at their garage! But not always guaranteed to find a spot!

Close to French Quarter

St Charles street is Royal street on the other side of Canal Street. This right next to Burbon Street in the French quarter. But adults will prefer Frenchman Street entertainment. The hotel is ok but they charge for parking and Internet. But that's New Orleans.

Great stay

My boyfriend and I have been going to New Orleans for St. Party's day for four years. We have always stayed at the Roosevelt - which is amazing. This year we were looking for a better deal and decided on the Royal St. Charles. The reviews were okay but we were worried our room would be small. It wasn't, it was great. Hotel looks like it has been renovated recently, it was super modern and trendy, staff was helpful, and you can buy get coffee right in the lobby. We will definitly stay again!

Total Experience Was Aweful

The hotel moved my reservation to their "sister" hotel. It was 8 blocks away, dirty and didn't even have hot water. The front desk staff at the Royal was rude and not helpful and they refused to let me speak to a manager. They didn't even offer to cover the cost of transportation to the other hotel.

Good location

I had a good stay & experience at Royal St. Charles. The down side would be the price, although it wasn't bad I've seen it advertised for less. And with the mandatory resort fee, its all the same to me as a consumer. So a rate a bit cheaper would definitely help balance that out

Over all a pretty good stay.

The hotel was nice and modern. The location was pretty good as far as being close to the french quarter. The room was very small, it didn't have much moving room but it was clean which is important to me. The fan in the bathroom was extremely loud so we had to shut the bathroom door every time one of us went in the bathroom or the person outside the bathroom couldn't hear the TV. There was no way to turn the fan off, it automatically came on when you turned on the light. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Worst Hotel Stay

I planned a trip to New Orleans recently and chose the Royal St. Charles Hotel, and now wish I would have just stayed at a major chain hotel. It lacked southern hospitality, or any hospitality at all and nothing made it stand out. First off, the hotel itself was hard to find, then the valet was nowhere to be found and no one was at the desk to help me figure out where to park or to check in. Then finally when staff members did show up, they were rude, unwelcoming and unhelpful and did not apologize for the wait. Only one person was working the desk for check in time on the weekend of a Saints game and the parking was double the price it normally is whcih wsa not told to me before I got there. When I called to ask for extra pillows and blankets, the lady seemed put off by my request. The room was nothing special and was quite small. The shower was a small trickle and the water was not hot. Upon checkout, it took 45 minutes for the valet to retrieve my car and the lady at the front test was again rude and did not even thank me for my stay.

Worst in New Orleans I've ever stayed so far...

The locations is the only good thing going on for this Hotel, The room was freezing cold, and we couldn't change the temperature no matter what. The room was small and awkardly arranged. Our bed was pretty much in a corner, and the staff seemed to be in their own world. Took me about an hour just to check in, and there were only two of us trying to get our keys. On top of that they charge you a mandatory extra fee to use the internet connection, which doesn't even work!!! For that price a night you'd at least expect some breakfast, or something! We left pretty dissappointed, and swore never to stay there again. Ever!!!
